Cosmic Bingo/Adrian Optimist Club




This is a new and exciting style of bingo played under black lights with glowing bingo cards, daubers, and party favors. To keep the upbeat temp, music will be played throughout the night by local DJ Kut. Along with the large $200 payouts per bingo game, we will also have “Minute to Win It” style games that will give you even more of an opportunity to win cash. Plan on coming early as there will be a catered meal provided for everyone. Price of admission is $20, which will get you playing papers, cosmic dauber, raffle ticket, and meal. Additional playing papers will also be available for purchase. We look forward to seeing everyone and being a part of the 1st Cosmic Bingo in the area. Advance tickets will be available for purchase at all branches of Adrian Bank and Citizens Bank in Adrian or just purchase at the event. Truck in Ditch West of Butler

This was the scene earlier today just West of Butler on 52 Highway at the intersection of K Highway. A Tractor Trailer slid off the side of the roadway and got stuck in the ditch. No one was injured in this accident.

PLANS ARE IN THE MAKING FOR THE 126TH BUTLER HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI 2013



This year marks the 126th anniversary of the Butler High School Alumni Association. To commemorate this celebration, a full day of activities has been planned for Saturday, May 25, 2013.   Please review the following itinerary so that you won’t miss out on any of the festivities! 
NOTE: All references to Our Old High denote the old high school building located on Pine Street.

Itinerary
    7:30am -    2nd Annual BHS Alumni 5k Run/Walk check-in at BHS 
                   track on Nursery Street.
   
    8:00am -    5K Run/Walk – BHS Track on Nursery Street
   
 . 9:00am -    Coffee/Donuts – Visiting at Our Old High Gymnasium
       
    10:30am - Parade Lineup in east parking at BHS on South Fulton Street.    
    11:00amParade proceeds to Butler Square.

2nd Annual BHS Alumni 5k Run/Walk:

Sign-ins begin at 7:30 am at track facility adjacent to the football field on Nursery Street. The run/walk will begin at 8:00 am – rain or shine, and is open to anyone who wants to participate. Being a Butler High School graduate is not a requirement. Pre –registration is required in order to receive a T-shirt. All profit from this event will go to BHS Alumni Association. The deadline for registering is May 1, 2013. See registration form enclosed.

NOTE: If you do not wish to participate in the run/walk, but would like to have a t-shirt, you may purchase one for $10.00 or $17.00 if the shirt must be mailed to cover the cost of postage and envelope (advance payment required). See registration form enclosed.

Coffee and Donuts:
A time for reminiscing at Our Old High Gymnasium at 9:00 am.
Parade:

All past, present and future BHS graduating classes and/or BHS clubs, organizations, and sports teams are encouraged to join the parade. Again this year we are happy to say that we will have the Alumni Band! Contact Dana Arnold to jump on the bandwagon: danaarnold@hotmail.com or call Dana at 660-679-6327. In case of inclement weather the BHS gymnasium will be open for visiting.

NOTE: You may toss candy along the parade route. 
Luncheon:

Registration/sign-in for luncheon will begin at 11:30am with the luncheon beginning promptly at 12:30pm, and will be BBQ Brisket/Ham sandwiches, potato salad, BBQ Beans, Chips, and drink! We invite you to bring a guest or family member. The cost of luncheon will be $10.00 per person and the closing date for luncheon reservations is May 21, 2013. A reservation form is attached or you can call Esther Hopcroft, at 660-679-3227.

Please be sure to leave a message with your phone number if no answer. Reservations are not necessary, but an additional $2.00 per meal will be charged upon availability.

Program: the BHS Alumni Chorus and Alumni Band will entertain us in the Auditorium. We encourage all former band and chorus members to join the fun. If interested, please contact Dana Arnold via email at danaarnold@hotmail.com or via telephone at 660-679-6327.

If you have never paid dues before, consider starting this year in honor of our 126th birthday.

Butler R-V School Scholarship:
Butler graduates entering the education field are eligible for this scholarship. If you wish to contribute a tax-deductible donation, please make your check payable to Butler RV Scholarship Fund. We will forward your donation.

Chestnut Street Family Care Clinic to Merge with High Street Clinic


BUTLER YOUTH BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT


 The Butler Youth Basketball Association will host the  5th annual youth basketball tournament. 40 teams  from Joplin , Kansas City , and the Local areas will participate . Games will be play at the Butler High School, Butler Grade School Multi-Gym. Games Start  Wed  March 20Th  .
 Tip-off is 5pm Wednesday,Thursday and Friday Tip-off at Both Butler  School facilities.
Tip-off Saturday will be at 8 am.
 The Public is more than welcome to come out and watch. This is the Butler Youth Basketball Association’s  biggest fundraiser  of the year.
 Gate Price is  $3 for adults and $2 for students. On Saturday both gyms will be selling pulled pork sandwiches ,  cooked by Three Guys and a Smoker

Diabetes Support Group Cancelled

The Living with Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2013 is being cancelled in anticipation of inclement weather.

Accumulating Snow Expected Thursday

Our latest snowfall forecast for snow beginning late Thursday morning and tapering off Thursday evening. We expect areas from Kansas City to Sedalia to pick up an inch or two, with higher amounts of 3" to 6" as you travel south into the Ozarks where a winter storm watch remains in effect.
