Students of the Month
The Adrian Optimist Club is pleased to
honor Students of the Month from the Miami, Ballard, and Adrian
schools. Criteria for this honor center on outstanding academic and
civic achievement and school spirit. Staff at each of the schools
make the selection, and their decision is based on expansion of these
criteria. Selection is based on the criteria, but a student
stepping up to a particular task will come to play in it. Each
student is honored with a certificate of recognition from the Adrian
Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber
Bucks”.
For March, the Miami student is Crystal Routen. Crystal, a junior, is the daughter of Forrest and Shelly Routen. She is very active especially in FFA, choir, volleyball, softball, basketball, and track. Crystal is also very active beyond school with more FFA and softball, as well as working part-time. She truly appreciates the inspiration she receives from her friends and Coach Keith Smith. She does not have a sure plan for after high school; but if she goes to college, basketball will likely be involved. Miami staff state that Crystal is extremely hard working and determined to succeed. She wants very much to do well in any endeavor, both at school and at home; and they are proud of her.

especially fishing and hanging with friends. Christian is inspired
by his family pushing him to be the best he can be. He plans to
attend college and play football there. Staff at Adrian say
Christian is a really great student to have in class; he always has a
smile on his face and is willing to work. Christian is always
respectful and an all around fun person.

Staff at Ballard states “Cheyenne is involved in several extra-curricular activities including volleyball, NHS, and 4-H. She plans on going to nursing school after high school and is working very hard to make sure her future is successful. She is a T.A. for elementary art and works well with elementary students one-on-one to help them complete projects on time. She has been seen to go from an introvert to an extrovert from 9th-12th grade. She is very helpful and always does what is asked of her. She is very humble, respectful, and genuinely cares about others. She is very organized and a great multi-tasker! ”
