Appleton City Woman involved in Friday Morning Wreck

Linda D. Buckley 50, of Appleton City Missouri received minor injuries in a Friday morning wreck in Henry County. She was a passenger in a 2005 Chevorlet that was traveling east bound on Missouri 52 Highway. The driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and traveled off the roadway on to County Road 1100. Then skidded across the roadway and rotated counterclockwise and struck a ditch before coming to rest. Buckley refused treatment at the scene. The car received extensive damage and was towed by Cross Towing of Appleton City. No one was wearing a seatbelt.

Grass fire West of Rich Hill

Foster Fire along with Rich Hill Fire and Bates County Sheriff is on scene of a grass fire along DD Highway Just South of Foster the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Please use caution when traveling in this area.

Truck fire West of Butler


Butler Fire along with Bates County Sheriff and Missouri State Highway Patrol is on scene of a truck fire just west of Butler on the outer road of I-49 past El Charro's resturant. The fire is at a residents just West of County Road NW 1001 and County Road 4002 the first house on the North Side of the road.

Obituary - Rose Caroline Williams

Rose Caroline Williams, 68, Peculiar, Misouri, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East Liberty Cemetery in Stotesbury, Missouri.

Obituary - Gina McGuire


Cremation memorial services for Gina McGuire will be 11 am, Tuesday, April 9 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel; visitation will be immediately prior to services from 10-11 am on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Bates County Hospital Auxilliary. Luisa McGuire, known as Gina passed away April 4, 2013. She was born March 30, 1932 to Giulio and Adele Vernetta in Naples, Italy, the third of four girls. In 1947, she married Jim McGuire who was stationed in Italy with the U.S. Army. They lived in various places in Missouri before settling on a farm west of Butler.

In younger years, Gina enjoyed singing, dancing, bowling, flowers,gardening, making crafts, playing cards, entertaining, knitting and crocheting. She especial enjoyed volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary at the Bates County Hospital.

Gina was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and two sisters in Italy. Gina is survived by three daughters Lou Morton Love and husband Dan of Council Bluffs, IA; Rosie Wall and husband Keith of Lincoln, MO and Katie Evans and husband Dennis of Lenexa, KS; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one sister and brother-in-law in Italy, nephews, and nieces

West Central Warriors Game Saturday Night 4/6/13


The West Central Warriors Semi Pro football team will be back in action on Saturday April 6th, 2013 at 6pm against the Mid- West Monsters. This game will take place at the Rotary Field behind the Butler Aquatic Center the address is 1002 Parkview Street here in Butler . The Warriors are 2-0 on the season and hungry to keep winning. Please come out and watch some great 8 man football action and support the Warriors.
