Updated Obituary - Steven Dean Bishop

Steven Dean Bishop, 60, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, May 24, 2013 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Steven was born November 9, 1952 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Hopper) Bishop. He was a 1970 graduate of Cass-Midway High School. He was a lifelong Cass County area resident. Steven had worked for Mid-America Graphics in Harrisonville and for Schmidt & Klaus Florist in Kansas City, Missouri.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one son, Christopher Bishop, Independence, Missouri; two brothers, Phillip Bishop, Sedalia, Missouri and Terry Bishop, Drexel, Missouri; two sisters, Debbie Hargis and her husband, Jeff, Cleveland, Missouri and Kim Steele, Belton, Missouri and three grandchildren.

Tornado Watch


A Tornado Watch has been issued for southeast Kansas into central Missouri until 10 PM. Cities in the watch include Pleasanton, Butler, Clinton, Sedalia and Boonville and points south. Thunderstorms are developing south of Highway 50 and these could produce large hail and tornadoes. Be alert in case a tornado warning is issued for your area and be prepared to take cover!

After a tranquil evening, thunderstorms are expected to rapidly develop along I-70 over eastern Kansas, and spread eastward across the Kansas City metro after midnight. Conditions appear favorable for storms to become severe (large hail and damaging winds), as well as a strong likelihood of training storms to produce torrential rainfall. Rainfall amounts of 1-3" are possible overnight which could lead to flash flooding. We are urging you to keep a weather radio and your cell phone handy

Missouri Water Patrol looking for Missing Fisherman on Stockton Lake


Missouri Water Patrol officers are looking for a missing fisherman on Stockton Lake. Water Patrol officers say the man put his boat in about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenfield Access for a day of fishing and has not been seen since. His wife reported him as missing about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when he did not return home. The boat was found and Water Patrol officers are using sonar and dragging equipment in an effort to find the body of the presumed drowning victim.
