UPDATE: Rollover Accident On I-49 Yesterday.


Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff and Butler Fire Department responded to a 1 vehicle rollover accident yesterday around 4:45pm on I-49 around mile marker 130. The accident occured when the 2004 Ford driven by Nathan Allen 19, of Kansas City Missouri was traveling Northbound lost control struck a gaurd rail and overturned in the slow lane of I-49. A passenger in the vehicle Samuel T. Allen 26, of Kansas City Missouri recieved moderate injuries and both were transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Butler.

Weather Update: Finally a break from the rain


Our stretch of unsettled weather has come to an end. Dry and seasonably cool conditions are in store for the next few days with highs in the 60s and 70s.

Obituary - Robert Pummill‏

A celebration of Roberts’s life will be Tuesday, June 4th at Unity Church of Overland Park at 10:00 in the morning. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at KU Endowment-KU-Alzheimer’s Disease Center, 3901 Rainbow Blvd MS3012, Kansas City, Kansas 66160. Attention Ted Kimble. 
Robert Allen Pummill, age 56 of Overland Park, Kansas made his transition on May 29, 2013 at Garden Terrace. He was born on September 22, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Kenneth and Marie Pummill.
He was an attorney of Pummill, Rubin & Haines for many years and then became Of Counsel for Martin Pringle. He also was the Trustee for the Bankruptcy Court until 2009. Robert enjoyed spending time in Naples, Florida when he was able to.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, brothers, Dale and Donald, sister Della Mae and step son Jeremy Marshall.
Survivors include: his wife Diane, daughter Laura and son-in-law Mark Cole, daughter Kelley and son-in-law Jason Fritz, step daughter Amy and step son-in-law Luke Hocker, grandchildren Colin, Corbin, Carter & Caroline and step grandchildren Doyle and Bella. Brothers, Lloyd, Larry, Jim and Ronald and sisters Ana Lee and Norma Kay, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and numerous nephews and nieces.

UPDATE: Missing Fisherman on Stockton Lake

Missouri Water Patrol officers resumed the search for a missing fisherman on Stockton Lake this morning. Water Patrol officers say the man put his boat in about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenfield Access for a day of fishing and has not been seen since. His wife reported him as missing about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when he did not return home. The boat was found and Water Patrol officers have used sonar and dragging equipment in an effort to find the body of the presumed drowning victim.

Ft. Scott Street from Orange to Prospect Closing due to High Water under the Bridge


Butler Police just advised MoDot to shut down Ft. Scott Street from Orange Street to Prospect Streets here in Butler. The water is over the road under the railroad bridge just west of the stoplight in Butler. Please find a different route.

New Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Bates County


National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Bates County until 6:15pm. A strong storm located 10 miles North of Hume moving North east at 40mph.. Possible Quarter size hail and 60mph wind. Please stay inside. Bates County Live will Update if and when  more information becomes available.
