Hume News‏ July 1, 2013

Hume News:

     The Community of Hume wishes to express their sympathy to the family of James McGee formerly of Hume.  Military Honors were given by the Rich Hill American Legend at graveside services held on Monday, July 1 at the Hume Cemetery.  Lots of memories seeing the McGee’s take the walks around Hume.

     Ryan Austin and Hannah Jacobs are proud to announce the birth of the son, Ryland David.  Little Mr. Ryland was born on June 30 at 9:20 p.m. at Nevada Regional Medical Center.  He weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19 1/4  inches long. 


     Princess Candidates for the 2013 Hume Fair are Makinizi Harris and Kaylee Shryer, Prince Candidate is Cade Cannon.  Rodeo Queen Candidates are Vannetta Keller, Jordan Wisdom and Megan Sutcliffe.  Please support these candidates as they work toward their goal.  Good luck to all the candidates!

UPDATE: Altercation Between 2 Women In Butler



Butler Police got called to an altercation between 2 women in Butler. When The Police arrived on the scene in the 600 Block of North Main ( around Mill Street) there was just a verbal altercation going on nothing physical. Both parties were placed on a 12 hour separation and Butler Police has cleared the scene.

Butler Police Officers in in route to the corner of Main and Mill Streets here in Butler there is some kind of altercation going on between 2 women. Please use caution when traveling in this area. Unknown if this is physical or just verbal. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information is available.

On Monday, July 1, the City of Butler launched TextCaster, a mass notification system with which subscribers can receive alerts via text message and email.

This service will be available to citizens by subscribing through the City of Butler web page at mo-butler.civiccities.com and clicking on the link that will take you to the sign up page.
On the sign up page, follow the step-by-step directions to subscribe. You will need to know your wireless provider. The service is free from the City of Butler, but you should check with your provider for any message or data rates that may apply. From this page you can also unsubscribe or change your message preferences.

You may choose what messages you wish to receive from various departments by checking the boxes. There are city announcements, as well as announcements from the Police Department, Fire Department/Emergency Management, Public Works, and Parks and Recreation.

Examples of alerts you can select are various meeting announcements to include City Council, Planning & Zoning, Airport Commission and various community events. Also street closings, hydrant flushing schedules, pool closings, information on utility disruptions, constructions projects, and various emergency alerts by the Police and Fire/Emergency Management.

At the bottom of the selection page you can select Severe Weather Alerts for Bates County. These alerts will come directly from the National Weather Service.

This service will also allow various city departments to communicate with each other by various groups established in-house.
