Accident Out East Dakota Street In Butler Area




Missouri State Highway Patrol is in route to a 1 vehicle accident approximately 5 miles out East Dakota Street in Butler. A small Blue four door car went through a fence and struck a tree. Unknown of any injuries. Bates County Live will update this story when more information is available.

UPDATE: Minor Train Derailment North Of Rockville



Bates County Sheriffs Department along Rockville Fire and Rescue is on scene of the minor train derailment north of Rockville. The exact location will be 2 miles North of where B Highway and P Highway just North of Rockville. According to scanner traffic it is reported that 3 coal cars derailed and are off the track. However the road is back open and investigators are on scene. Bates County Live will update this when more information is available.

Minor Train Drerailment North Of Rockville



There has been a reported minor train derailment on County Road 6576 North of Rockville. It has been reported that there are no injuries just damage to the rail in that area. Also there has been no reports of property damage.Bates County Live will update this when and if there is any more information available.

Huge Garage Sale In Butler



Friday August 2nd and saturday August 3rd there will be a HUGE garage sale at 509 W. College Street from 10am to 5pm both days. Some of the items will include adult and kids clothing, hunting items (bows), and several gaming systems along with lots of other items.

Benefit Bake Sale At Medicalodge


The employees of Medicalodge Nursing Facility in Butler will be holding a benifit bake sale for a few fellow employees that are having some health issues. The bake sale will be held at the Medicalodge facility in the Piano Room Friday August 2nd from 9am-4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy some great baked goods. All proceeds will go to helping these loyal employees fund their healthcare needs.

Bates County Sheriff's Department Press Release On Ted Jacobs Arrest



The Bates County Sheriff’s Office and the Rich Hill Police apprehended Ted L. Jacobs, 36 yrs of Hume, Missouri.  Jacobs had eluded Law Enforcement for several weeks, and was wanted for Probation Violation Warrant out of Vernon County, Missouri and Failed to Appear Warrant out of Barton County, Missouri.  Jacobs had ran from Bates County Deputies on two other occasion and was able to get away undetected.  The Bates County Sheriff’s Office received information on July 29th 2013, that Jacobs was held up in a residence on South 6th Street in Rich Hill, Missouri.  The Sheriff’s Office received consent to search from the resident owner and found Jacobs hiding behind a couch.  Jacobs was taking into custody without incident.
