Weather Update: Thunderstorms & Risk For Flooding



Get ready for more rain. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday through the weekend and into early next week. Heavy rainfall associated with the storms may result in localized flooding. A few strong to severe storms will also be possible. Those with outdoor plans this weekend particularly along area streams or in flood prone areas should be alert for changing weather conditions and rising water levels.

Hope Haven Of Cass County Receives Stylish Donation


On July 12, 2013, First Impressions Salon and Spa made a presentation to Hope Haven of Cass County for a check in the amount of $1,591.00. This represents the proceeds of a “Spa-a-Thon” organized by First Impressions Salon a few weeks earlier. Holly Williams, the owner of First Impressions Salon & Spa, stated that “Patricia Roberts, Carolyn Wilhem, Carole Werth, Debi Brown, Stacy Stowe, Andrea Parris and others all worked together to make this a successful fund-raising event to benefit the victims of domestic and sexual violence served by Hope Haven of Cass County.” Further, Ms. Williams said there were many local businesses that donated gifts for the silent auction that included a new Coach purse and matching Coach wallet, gift certificates to the Missouri Mud Company, Gregory’s Event Space of Raymore, a Chi flat iron and many more wonderful items. Hope Haven and First Impressions Salon wish to thank all participants of this benefit who made it so successful.

Hope Haven is the only domestic and sexual violence program and shelter in Cass and Bates Counties. Adrian Fire Department along with Butler Fire Department ( standing by) is in route to a report of smoke in a house in Adrian. The house is located at 240 West Main Street in Adrian. Obituary - Doris McCall Tanner

Funeral services for Doris Tanner will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2013 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor John Prichard officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.

Doris McCall Tanner, age 75 of Belton, Missouri, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at her home in Belton. She was born February 18, 1938 to Robert Lester and Lydia Berniece Arnold McCall in Butler, Missouri.

Doris is survived by one son, Robert “Bob” Tanner of Belton, Missouri; four daughters, Kathy Cehorn and husband Steve of Raymore, Missouri, Marilyn Rayoum and husband Bob of Ephrata, Washington, Theresa Wendel and husband Kevin of Belton, Missouri and Jana Wade and husband Jim of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two sister, Pat Allen of Butler, Missouri and Bobbi Gaston of Denton, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry; two sisters, Sharon Horner and Linda Tanner; and one grandson, Gary Gentry.
