The Flavors of Yesterday Popular Heights September 7th

The Flavors of Yesterday event at Poplar Heights Living History Farm on Saturday September 7, 11 am to 2 pm. Throughout the day, you can freely sample salsas, soup, relishes, cakes, stews and more, all made with heirlooms grown from seed at Poplar Heights. Relax at the new picnic area with your treats. 
Learn more about herbs with classes in making herbal vinegars and oil, home-made pastas, preserving herbs and brewing an herbal tissane. Take home a free basil or mint plant to start you own herb garden.   The Main House and barns will be open for tours

1 Vehicle Serious Injury Accident East Of Adrian Last Night




Around 11:15pm Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff, Adrian Fire Department and Life Flight Eagle all responded to a 1 vehicle accident on 18 Highway East of Adrian 0.5 Miles East of Z Highway. The accident occured when the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Kerry K Kennedy 22, of New Century Kansas was traveling Eastbound on 18 Highway crossed the center line and travelled off the left side of the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned several times. The driver wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle was totaled and towed by Adrian Tire & lube. The driver was transported to Research Medical Center by Life Flight Eagle with serious injuries.

ACCIDENT: Car Vs. Deer



Missouri State Highway Patrol and Bates County Sheriff has just been informed of a car that is off in the ditch on the corner of FF Highway and F Highway. The car apparently hit a deer and went off in the ditch. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.

COSMIC BINGO IN ADRIAN OCOTBER 12TH

Cosmic Bingo is back… The Adrian Optimist will host another Cosmic Bingo Saturday October 12that the Adrian Optimist building in Adrian. The doors will open at 5 pm and Bingo will start at 7 pm. The admission of $20.00 per person will include a catered meal, playing papers, a dauber and a raffle ticket.
Cosmic bingo is played under the Black Lights with $200 payout per bingo game. Advance tickets are available at Adrian Bank Branches or  Citizens Bank in Adrian.

Man Wanted Out Of Ft. Scott Captured Today

BREAKING NEWS: According to Sheriff Bill Martin, Frank L. Miller was captured this afternoon without incident.

Grass Fire In Amsterdam Area



Amsterdam Fire Department is in route to a grass fire located on Y Highway by the railroad tracks in Amsterdam. The fire was reported by Kansas City Southern Railroad. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.

Obituary - Paul Horace Scott

Funeral services for Paul H. Scott will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 30 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, August 29 at the chapel with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be given for the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch.

Paul was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather. He cared for his wife Thelma for over 65 years of marriage as she was diagnosed with polio at the age of 16.

Paul is survived by his wife Thelma of the home; son Larry Scott and wife Francie of Butler; daughters Kathie Peterie and husband Jerry of Strafford, MO; and Jennie Vineyard and husband Carl of Coatesville, IN; also eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandson, Chad Scott.
