UPDATED: Obituary - Ronnie James Faulkenberry

Ronald James Faulkenberry, 53 born April 8, 1960 in Harrisonville, Missouri son of John Tom, Melba Faulkenberry, and Linda Faulkenberry. He died September 2, 2013 at his home in Tightwad, Missouri surrounded by family.

Ronnie was employed by MoDot in January of 1979. He then was united in marriage to Lisa Gail Brisbin on August 17, 1979. They resided in East Lynne, Missouri where they had 3 children, Jeffrey Allen Faulkenberry, Kelly Dawn Faulkenberry, and Travis James Faulkenberry. They then moved to Tightwad in 1998. Ronnie retired from MoDot on September 30, 2011. Ronnie was very involved in the community by serving as a volunteer fire fighter/first responder at the Fire Department and President and Worship Leader of Souls Harbor Worship Center of Tightwad, Missouri. Ronnie was a gifted musician and singer and on January 13, 2000 Ronnie gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and he loved to spread the gospel by singing and praising the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his mother Melba Faulkenberry, October 1975 and his father John Tom Faulkenberry, December 1996.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Gail Faulkenberry of the home. Mother Linda Lou Faulkenberry. Son Jeffrey Allen Faulkenberry and wife Natasha. Daughter Kelly Dawn Marriott and husband Josh, and Travis James (T.J.) Faulkenberry and wife Michelle. His beloved grandchildren, Leah Lou Faulkenberry, Jacob Tyler Faulkenberry, Suvanna Nicole Faulkenberry, Madysen Nicole Faulkenberry, Hunter Charles Marriott, Kimber Dawn Marriott, and Justice Lynn Faulkenberry.

Ronnie is also survived by his brothers Tommie Faulkenberry, Terry Faulkenberry, and Stephen Brisbin and his sisters Brenda Howard, Sandra Yelton, Nancy Hurtt, Linda Doreen Green, Stephanie Wolfe, Julia Morris as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends.

"His heritage to his children was not words or possessions but an unspoken treasure. The treasure of his example as a man and a father."

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Benson Center, Clinton, Missouri with a 2:00 P.M. graveside service following in Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 also at the Benson Center. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ron Faulkenberry Memorial Fund C/O Hawthorn Bank and may be left in care of the funeral home. Joanne N. Schick, 80, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Richard Eugene Coe, age 48 of Butler, Missouri died Monday September 2, 2013 at his home in rural Butler. He was born December 3, 1964 to Forrest Lee and Bonnie Jo Davidson Coe in Tacoma, Washington.

Richard is survived by his wife, Robin Coe of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Shelby and Amber Coe of Butler, Missouri; his mother, Bonnie Jo Coe of Trimble, Missouri; two brothers, Randy Coe and wife Becky of Kearney, Missouri and Rustin Coe and wife Amy of Kearney, Missouri; a sister, Reba Hensley and husband Mark of Kansas City, Missouri; one grandson, Elijah; one nephew; and six nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Lee Coe Jr.

Christopher Steven Williams, age 53 of Lebanon, Missouri died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. He was born June 2, 1960 to Elmer Dean and Darlene Hanes Williams in Independence, Missouri.

Chris is survived by his wife, Tracy Williams of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Stephen Williams and wife Stephanie of Independence, Missouri, Chad Williams of Independence, Missouri and David Hensley and wife Dawn of Belfair, Washington; a daughter, Ashley Williams of Lebanon, Missouri; his father, Dean Williams and fiance` Rose of Blue Springs, Missouri; a brother Terry Rose and wife Vicky of Lee's Summit, Missouri; two sisters, Marcia Gulledge and husband Mike of Independence, Missouri and Deana Williams of Independence, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Caiden Hensley, Caitlyn Hensley and Ethan Williams. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Williams.

The Butler Fire Department along with the city of Butler will conduct a test of the outdoor warning sirens here in Butler tomorrow September 4th, 2013. The test will begin at 10:00 am.

Butler Police Department Press Release: Another Stolen Vehicle


The night of 09/02/13 a vehicle was stolen from 409 S Wells street in Butler.  Around 3:30am this morning the vehicle was recovered by Rich Hill Officer Jack Bearce.  

A male juvenile suspect, who was taken into custody, was located operating another stolen vehicle that was stolen out of Rich Hill.  This is the second vehicle stolen out of Butler in the past week.  Unsure if the two are connected in any way.  Both vehicles were unlocked and keys were left inside of the vehicles.

The Butler Police Department Chief of Police, Randy Beshore, wants to remind everyone to lock their vehicles and homes to aid in deterring criminal activity.

Streets Closed In Butler


The Butler Street Department will have Pine Street between Maple Street and Water Street closed today in Butler for repairs. Unknown how long the repairs will take. Please find a different route around this. Bates County Live will update when the street is open.

MSHP Releases Labor Day Holiday Statistics

EMPHASIS: MSHP Releases Labor Day Holiday Statistics 


Seven people died in traffic crashes during the 2013 Labor Day holiday weekend. Last year, there were seven fatalities. The 2013 counting period ran from 6 p.m., Friday, August 30, through 11:59 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2013. During this period, the Patrol investigated 248 traffic crashes, which included 112 injuries and five of the seven fatalities. Troopers made 119 arrests for driving while intoxicated in 2013, compared to 147 arrests last year. (Note: in 2012, troopers investigated 201 crashes, which included 144 injuries and four of the seven fatalities.)

There were zero boating fatalities over the 2013 Labor Day holiday. Troopers investigated nine boating crashes involving seven injuries. There were no drownings reported. Troopers also arrested 14 people for boating while intoxicated over the weekend. During the 2012 Labor Day weekend, officers investigated three boating crashes, which included one injury and no fatalities. One person drowned and seven people were arrested for boating while intoxicated during last year’s Labor Day weekend.

Of the five traffic crash fatalities troopers investigated, three occurred in the Troop D, Springfield, MO, area, and one each occurred in the Troop C, Weldon Spring, MO, area, and the Troop F, Jefferson City, MO, area.

There were no fatalities on Friday, August 30, 2013, during the counting period.

Three fatalities occurred on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Justin M. Rohe, 25, of St. Charles, MO, died when he failed to stop at a red signal and struck the rear passenger side of a vehicle making a left turn. Rohe was ejected from the motorcycle he was driving. The crash occurred at the intersection of Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Ohmes Road in St. Charles County. St. Charles County emergency medical services pronounced Rohe dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash.

Dalton W. Coe, 15, of Seneca, MO, died when the vehicle in which he was a passenger crossed the center line and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle then left the roadway, overturned, and struck a tree. Newton County Deputy Coroner Brian Artherton pronounced Coe dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger sustained moderate injuries. All three of the vehicle's occupants were wearing seat belts. The crash occurred on Gum Road south of Joplin, MO, in Newton County. 

The St. Louis Police Department is investigating the remaining fatality on August 31, 2013. No further details are available.

One person died on September 1, 2013. Brandan A. Evans, 18, of Bronaugh, MO, died when the vehicle he was driving traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned several times, and came to rest on its tires. Evans was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Dr. Tiffany Batiste, Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin, MO, pronounced Evans dead at the hospital. The crash occurred on Missouri Route BB, one mile south of Nevada, MO, in Vernon County. The Vernon County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.

Three fatalities occurred on the Labor Day holiday, Monday, September 2, 2013. Beth W. Adamson, 50, of Wichita, KS, died when the driver of the vehicle in which she was a passenger failed to stop at a stop sign. The Adamson vehicle was then struck broadside. Dr. Buchele, Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO, pronounced Adamson dead at the hospital. Both the driver and Adamson were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash; the driver sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries; he was not wearing a seat belt. The crash occurred 10 miles north of Joplin, MO, on Missouri Highway 43 in Jasper County. 

Melissa K. Crossland, 45, of Richland, MO, died when the driver of the vehicle in which she was a passenger failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road, struck a tree, and overturned. Neither the driver nor Crossland were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Camden County Medical Examiner Jaimie Wheat pronounced Crossland dead at the scene. The driver sustained serious injuries. The crash occurred in Camden County on Missouri Route A east of Seven Springs Road.

The Ste. Genevieve Police Department is investigating the remaining fatality for September 2, 2013. No further details are available.
