How does the Federal Government Shutdown affect WIC?


In a Statement from The Department of Health and Senior Services, WIC services will remain in effect.  Missouri WIC has funding available to continue operations in the event of a short term lapse in a short term shutdown of the federal government. Yes, continue to come to your appointments and use the checks/vouchers as usual. 

Adrian Fire Department Siren Testing‏



The Adrian Fire Department will be testing the warning sirens Wednesday evening October 2nd  at 6:00 p.m. weather permitting.

Weather Update: Severe Weather Possible To The North On Friday

Increasing temperatures will bring a chance for thunderstorms to the area to end the week. High temperatures are expected to remain some 10 to 15 degrees above normal through Friday, before a STRONG Fall cold front moves through by the weekend. A few strong to even severe storms may be possible Friday evening/night as the front moves through.

Butler Fire Department Siren Test


The Butler Fire Department will be testing the Emergency Storm Sirens around town today. The test will begin around 10 am this morning. The test are the first Wednesday of every month.

Minor Traffic Accident in Butler


The Butler Police Department is in route to a minor traffic accident on Fulton Street around Vine Street. No reports of injuries or very much damage to the vehicles. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.

2 Vehicle Accident In Butler Car Vs. Semi



Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff and Butler Police Department is on scene of a 2 vehicle accident located on Ft. Scott Street right infront of the Bear Stop Store here in Butler. The accident is between a van and semi truck. No reports of injuries. The vehicles have been towed by Butler Tow and the road is open and clear.
