Man Arrested On St.Clair County Warrant

On Oct. 15, Kasey Groves, 23, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant issued for multiple cases. One case was failing to appear on two class C felony charges of burglary in second degree. The warrant was issued on Oct. 5 and stems from an incident on June 21 on NW 751 Road at property owned by Ronald Harleman. Harleman reported several items stolen from a house and a barn. Items included chainsaws, weed eaters, a Snap-On tool box with tools, a Troy Built rear tine tiller, a Chicago pneumatic  air wrench, bench grinder, new lawn mower parts, scrap copper, air compressors, several one cylinder gas motors and other miscellaneous items from the property.

Groves’ additional cases include not appearing in court on Oct. 2 for a hearing on another class C felony of burglary in second degree stemming from an incident on June 22 on NW 701 Road at property owned by Lane McDonald. Several chainsaws and other items were taken from the property. Groves also did not appear for a hearing on a misdemeanor charge of possessing marijuana stemming from an incident on April 18. A total bond for all charges was set at $10,000 cash only. As of Tuesday, Oct. 22, Groves was still in the St. Clair County Jail.

Obituary- James Floyd Sanders

James Floyd Sanders, 63, West Line, Missouri, died Friday, October 11, 2013. Burial was October 11, 2013 at Glenwild Cemetery in Cleveland, Missouri. 

Mr. Sanders was born July 7, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of James Robert and Julia Ruth (Wayman) Sanders. He worked for Allied Signal as a mechanical inspector. 

He is survived by his wife, Susan, of the home; two sons, Mark Sanders and James Robert Sanders (Brittany), all of West Line, Missouri; one daughter, Kelly Johnson (Justin), Independence, Missouri and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Sanders and Zoe Johnson.

18th Annual Turkey Dinner‏

Go Kart Race Saturday October 26th Butler Fairgrounds


The Butler Chamber of Commerce entry fee for the Mini Car Race has been set at $125.00 per vehicle. The race will be Saturday October 26th following the State Championship BBQ. The event will be held at the Arena on the Bates County Fair Grounds. The Mini Nascar Race wills start at 6pm and this year the feature driver is our very own Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson racing the 911 Mini Nascar. The event is free to all spectators and the proceeds from the race will benefit the Butler Bear Backers.

Paul Joseph Neal, 83 of Blanchard, Louisiana, passed away October 20, 2013. He was born March 11, 1930 in Drexel, Missouri, son of Vernon Paul and Mary J. (Dakin) Neal.
