From The Bates County Sheriff's Office: Fog Advisory
The Bates County Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone who has to be out this evening or early in the morning to travel with caution and allow extra time to reach your destination due to a fog advisory. The visibility is around 20 feet or less at this time. The Nixle System is down at this time but when it's back up and running the Sheriff's Office will be sending out a Nixle text.
Grass Fire North Of Adrian
The Adrian Fire Department along with the Drexel Fire Department is in route to a grass fire which was reportedly caused by a lawn mower that caught on fire. The location of this fire is North of Adrian to AA Highway then West to County Road 8541 then South about a mile past the curves. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available
Obituary - Harry Jack Turk
Graveside
funeral services for Harry Jack Turk will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December
7, 2013 at Berea Cemetery in Ketterman, Vernon County, Missouri. There
will be no visitation. Contributions are suggested to the Excelsior
Springs Healthcare Foundation. Messages of condolence for the family may

Harry
Jack Turk, 84, formerly of Rich Hill, Missouri as well as Houston,
Texas passed away November 30, 2013 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Jack
was born January 17, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Harry B. and
Bonnie D. (Neely) Turk. He served his country by entering the Army in
1951 and attained the rank of Corporal before earning an honorary
discharge in 1953. Jack was an engineer during his career years and was a
graduate of the Finley School of Engineering. He was a member of the
Rich Hill post of the American Legion; he enjoyed horseback riding as
well as sailing.
Jack
was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Harold
Calvin. He is survived by his sister, Patricia L. Calvin; niece Sharon
Powell and husband Kent; nephews Dennis Calvin and wife Nancy, Rusty
Calvin and wife Lynne, and Terry Calvin; great-nephews Trevor and Jeremy
Powell, Tim Calvin, and Skylar Calvin; great-niece Patricia C. Calvin;
great-great nephews Austin and Bentley Calvin; and great-great nieces
Madison Powell, Elizabeth Calvin, Zowie Blue Friend and Immy Lu Calvin.

Stolen Semi Truck Wrecked Outside Of Butler
Around 3:15am this morning the Butler Fire Department was called out to a wreck on 52 Highway West of Butler on the S Curves ( Steele and Kings Dairy Farm Corners) . The Fire Department was called out due to leaking fuel from the wrecked Peterbilt Semi. The 1977 Peterbilt which is blue and white in color was stolen earlier in the night from Heiman's Grain Elevator in Butler. If you have any information leading to the arrest/arrests of the person/persons responsible for the theft of this vehicle please contact the Bates County Sheriff's Department at 660-679-3232
