Butler Project Prom Committee Meeting
The Butler Project Prom Committee Meeting for all juniors and seniors and parents interested in helping plan project prom. The meeting will be Monday, Jan. 27th, 6:30 p.m. at the Flaming Lantern Restaurant in Butler. Everyone interested in this should attend.
Bates County Sheriff's Office Press Release: Search Warrant Served In Rockville
On 1/23/2014, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and CNET Drug Task
Force executed a narcotics search warrant at 411 North Washington Street in
Rockville. During the search warrant one
subject took off running through the house to the bathroom. That subject was able to get the door shut
before being arrested. Deputies then
gave verbal commands to the subject to exit the bathroom where he complied and
was taken into custody. A total of three
people were taken into custody. Several
items of drug paraphernalia and narcotics were also seized from the residence
or on their persons. The investigation
stemmed from Undercover CNET Drug Taskforce Officers purchasing drugs from the
residence.
This is the second time the Sheriff’s Office and CNET Drug Task Force
has executed a search warrant on this residence. On 06/3/13, two of the residents were taken
into custody and charged with possession and distribution of a dangerous
drug.

Obituary - Sarah Ann (Scott) Claspill
68-year-old Sarah Ann (Scott) Claspill, Nevada, passed away Tuesday at Christian Healthcare-Nevada. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and services were scheduled at two o'clock this afternoon at the funeral home with pastor Dennis Painter officiating. Burial is to follow in Newton Burial Park. Memorials either to the Nevada Regional Medical Center Hospice Program or the Vernon County Ambulance District's annual toy drive are suggested.
DAR Scholarship
Harmony Mission Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution
announces it is time for Seniors to apply for the Irene & Leeta Wagy
Memorial Scholarship. These must be
postmarked by March 1, 2014.
Scholarship applications
are now available in the school counselor’s office for the Irene & Leeta
Wagy Scholarship sponsored by Harmony Mission chapter, Daughters of the
American Revolution (DAR). The
scholarship is to honor the late Irene and Leeta Wagy, and is funded through
the estate of the late Irene and Leeta Wagy.
This scholarship is for $500 a semester, renewable up to a total of
$4,000. It is offered to a senior from
one of the following area school districts:
Adrian, Appleton City, Ballard, Butler, Hume, Miami and Rich Hill.
Any
interested student: public, private or home schooled may apply. The scholarship is available to be used at
any Missouri institution of higher learning, including technical schools. For more specific information, see the
counselor at your high school.

Rich Hill Man Involved In 2 Vehicle Crash In Barton County
Around 1:35pm today The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Barton County Sheriff's Department responded to a 2 vehicle accident at 160 and East Lamar City Limits. The accident occurred when the 2008 Ford driven by 72 year old Gary D. Davis of Lamar Missouri was slowing to make a turn when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2012 Freight liner driven by 51 year old Dwayne E. Burris of Rich Hill Missouri. Mr. Davis was taken to The Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar with minor injuries. Mr Burris wasn't injured in this accident and both vehicles was driven from the scene.
