Obituary - Inez Colene Thomas

Funeral services for Colene Thomas will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Ron Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.

Inez Colene Thomas, age 82 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri. She was born July 7, 1931 to Harold Franklin and Melba Doris Hoover Page in Butler, Missouri.

Colene is survived by two sons, Delbert Lee Thomas of Butler, Missouri and Frankie Thomas of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Debbie Freeman and husband Charles of Belton, Missouri; 2 grandsons, Ryan and Perry Sellars, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert F. Thomas; and one brother, Albert Lee Page.

Weather Update: Big Changes Coming

This weekend won't be perfect by any means, with cool temperatures today but warmer weather on Sunday. It will however be MUCH better than what is expected for the upcoming week. A powerful arctic cold front will blast through the region Sunday evening, bringing another round of 40 to 50 mph winds. Below zero wind chills will be prevalent through the first half of next week. Yet again, little to no meaningful precipitation is expected until at least the 1st of February.

Several Fire Departments are assisting on a huge wood shop fire 7 miles West of Rich Hill this evening. The call came out around 8pm this evening and the fire is still blazing at this time. Bates County Live will update this story when and if more information or photos become available.

The Foster Fire Department along with Rich Hill Fire Department and Butler Fire Department is in route to a structure fire at Peeks Wood Shop 7 miles West of Rich Hill on A highway to U Highway and North on U Highway. The building is fully engulfed in flames. Unknown at this time of injuries. Bates County Live will update this when more information and pictures become available.

Update: Possible Structure Fire In Butler

The Butler Fire Department is on scene of what was thought to be a structure fire on 205 Colonial drive in Butler. However that isn't the case the fire has been contained to the back yard of the residence and is a grass fire. The Butler Fire Department is on scene and has the fire under control. No one was injured in this accidental fire. Bates County Live will update this when and we get a press release.
