Osage Valley Electric Cooperative: Wind Causes Several Power Outages

Thanks to the arrival of the 40 mph wind, The Osage Valley Electric Cooperative has had several outages going on at this time. There are several without power west of Butler and a line outage east of Archie with a few individual outage throughout the area. Crews are walking sideways to restore power as quickly as possible. Please report you outage by calling 800-889-6832.

Grass Fire North Of Adrian

The Adrian Fire Department is in route to a out of control grass fire North of Adrian to E Highway and East past the S curves to County Road North 243. Unknown how many acres is on fire at this time. The wind has caused lots of fires in our area this evening. Please use caution with any kind of flame it's very dry outside.

Out of Control Fire North of Amsterdam

The Amsterdam Fire Department along with mutual aide assistance from the Adrian Fire Department and Bates County Sheriff's Department is in route to a report of a out of control fire North of Amsterdam to County Road NW 11002. The fire will be North of the Larry Kates residence. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.

Bates County Sheriff's Office: Advisory Message

Advisory: Cold front will bring very strong winds to the Bates County area. wind speeds between 30 and 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Until Monday AM.

Out of Control Fire In Adrian

The Adrian Police Department along with the Adrian Fire Department is on scene of a out of control grass/leaves fire at 534 Pin Oak in Adrian. The wind is the cause of this fire. Adrian Fire Department will be out on detail to put out the hot spots. Bates County Live will update if there is further information.

Obituary - Robert Douglas Huff

Robert Douglas Huff passed away on January 24th 2014, at 12:30 pm KU Medical Center. Bobby was born July 25th 1963, and graduated Adrian High school in 1981. He was well known for his fun nature, vast science and computer knowledge. His passion was space exploration, robotics, his grand babies, and nieces and nephews and his computer business(Acme Computers) . He achieved the status as an Ebay power seller which he was proud of.

He was proceded in death by his father, Robert Allen Huff, and his grandparents, Irene Huff, Alie Huff, LaVera (Whiite) Simpson. He is survived by his wife Carrie Huff, mother Kay(Huff)Jones, grandfather Frank Simpson, his children Kevin Allen Huff and Heather Renay Bockes, and his granddaughters Carly and Baylee. Bobby also leaves behind his siblings Gene Schroeder of Butler MO, Jason Schroeder of Adrian MO, and Christina Schroeder of Kansas City KS, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held at 2:00pm, on February 1st, at the Victory Assembly of God Church, in Adrian Missouri. A memorial fund has been opened at youcaring.com/roberthuff to help send a memorial of him to the moon, and to pay for final expenses.

Possible Fire In Adrian


Adrian Fire Department is in route to a possible fire on West 8th street in Adrian. It is unknown the origin of the fire. Bates County Live will keep you updated if and when any information comes available.

Adrian Fire Department: 2 People Break Through Ice on Adrian Lake

The Adrian Fire Department along with the Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriff's Department is in route to The Adrian City Lake on a report of 2 17 year old males that has fell through the ice and into the water. The Adrian Police Department is on scene and are reporting that the 2 people are out of the water at this time and are very cold awaiting on the ambulance to arrive. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.
