Winter weather advisory through Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter weather advisory as we are to expect a mixture of snow, rain and possibly sleet. The advisory will run from 3 a.m. Friday morning through 6 p.m. Saturday.

Customer Appreciation Night At Max Motors In Butler

Max Motors Customer Appreciation

On February 18, 2014 Max Motors of Butler will be having a customer appreciation night from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at the store in Butler. The meal will consist of a Old Fashion "pig pickin" with all the trimmings.

Everyone is encouraged to attend and have fun. There will be plenty of food and prizes bring the friends and family out for a wonderful evening with your friends from Max Motors.

Large grass fire east of Rich Hill

The Rich Hill fire department along with mutual aid from the Butler fire department is working a grass fire east of Rich near N highway. Watch for emergency vehicles if in the area.

Vernon County Sheriff's Department Felony Arrest Warrants

Two people are behind bars after Vernon County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to make an arrest on a felony warrant service at a home in Deerfield.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, two Vernon County Deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Tyler Millman when a second subject climbed through the window in the back of the house and tried to escape.

The subject who was then identified as John D Howell JR, 21 of Nevada was arrested by a Sheriff’s Deputy on multiple warrants including a probation violation warrant and a warrant for unlawful use of a weapon. Tyler Millman, 21 of Bronaugh was also arrested from that address shortly after on a felony warrant for tampering with a motor vehicle. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said Millman had hid in the attic, but came down and surrendered after Howell was taken into custody. Both subjects are being held in the Vernon County Jail.

New arrest warrant issued in St. Clair County‏

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, a St. Clair County arrest warrant was issued for Kyli Turner, 25, Higginsville, for failing to appear in court on a seat belt violation and two class A misdemeanor charges for possessing up to 35 grams marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
