Weather Update: Dangerous Wind Chills Expected Tonight/Thursday Morning

For those of you who love the snow it is going to stick around for a while! However, it will come at the price of some very cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills tonight. Highs today will only be in the single digits and lower teens. Tonight, lows will drop to 5 to 15 below zero and factoring in the winds, will chills will drop to 15 to 25 below zero across central Missouri and eastern Kansas. Northern Missouri will experience winds chill dropping to 25 to 30 below zero. In these conditions frostbite can occur in a matter of minutes so, if you can avoid spending time outdoors, please do so. If you must venture outdoors, limit the exposure of your skin to these conditions!

Weather Advisory: The Accumulating snow has ended at this time but scattered flurries are possible today in the area. The Winds pick up to 25 + mph and will spread the snow back over the plowed roads. Please use caution if you must travel.

Adrian man injured in one vehicle accident

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says one person was injured in a one-vehicle accident last night around 9:30pm in Bates County on I-49 one-tenth of a mile south of AA Highway.

The driver of the vehcile Stephen G. Zupan, 60, Adrian, was traveling southbound in a 1978 Jeep CJ7, and began to slide on the ice covered roadway and traveled off the right side at the exit ramp. The vehicle struck a delineator post and a light pole before overturning.

Stephen G. Zupan experienced moderate injuries and was transported by a private party to Belton Research Hospital. His vehicle had moderate damage and was left at the scene. He had drivers insurance through Shelter.

Bates County Sheriff's Office: Driving Conditions Poor

Everyone please use extreme caution and allow extra time to arrive alive tonight.Also reducing speeds while driving tonight. The snow is still falling at a rapid pace and I-49 is extremely dangerous Butler. Please reduce speeds and watch for emergency workers working multiple slide offs. If you don't have to travel we advise you to stay home.

Kansas City Woman hurt in Henry County Wreck

One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Feb. 3 in Henry County on Rt. Z around two-tenths of a mile west of Rt. BB.

Nicole R. Jeannin, 24, Kansas City, unknown at the time of this accident report whether she was wearing a seat belt, westbound in a 2000 Ford F-150, lost control of her vehicle on the ice covered roadway. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a utility box and then a tree.

Nicole R. Jeannin experienced minor injuries and was transported by Golden Valley Ambulance to Golden Valley Hospital. Her vehicle had extensive damage and was removed from the scene through a private tow. It was unknown at the time of this accident report whether she had drivers insurance.
