World Livestock Auctioneer Champion Dustin Focht to Appear at Mo-Kan Livestock Market

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 31, 2014) – Dustin Focht, this year’s World Livestock Auctioneer Champion, will be at Mo-Kan Livestock Market (Butler, Mo.) on Thursday, April 3, starting at 11 a.m. (CT). Focht will be on the auction block, selling livestock and showing off the chant that made him a world champion auctioneer.
Thursday’s sale is the Grass Cattle and Yearling Special Sale at Mo-Kan.
Focht defeated 30 other contestants to win the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship (WLAC), held in June in Montgomery, Ala. The WLAC was created and is conducted by the Livestock Marketing Association (LMA), the national trade association for progressive marketing businesses. During his year as champion, Focht is traveling across the U.S., appearing at LMA member markets and industry events.
Local livestock markets across the country work hard to bring in multiple buyers to bid competitively on sale day, providing true price discovery of the value of all types of livestock, maximizing the return to the seller. In turn, they provide buyers a centralized location with a ready supply of livestock in the offering.
About the Livestock Marketing Association:
The Livestock Marketing Association, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, is North America’s largest membership organization dedicated to supporting, representing and communicating with and for the entire livestock marketing sector. LMA has approximately 800 member businesses across the U.S. and Canada. For more information, visit www.LMAWeb.com.

Weather Update: Major Change by Daybreak

Did you like the 70s and even 80 degree weather of today? Well, get ready for a shock by morning because you might need a heavy coat by daybreak. In the span of 15 hours we'll drop nearly 50 degrees in some spots and by daybreak temperatures will only be in the 20s and low 30s.

We'll rebound back into the low 50s Tuesday, but this will be almost 10 degrees below the "normal" temperatures for this time of the year.
