Butler R-V TSA Team Successful Showing At State

Butler TSA Successful Showing at State
Congratulations to the Butler High School TSA for their successful showing at state TSA Contest. The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a student organization that is being revived at Butler for the first time in years at Butler R-V. Out of our 10 students who went, 9 made the finals in at least one event - we may have been small and new, but we made an impression!

Results:

Caleb Jett, Slate Hayes, Alex Clover - 3rd Music Production
Callie Burris - 2nd Photographic Technology
Lizzie Lindsay - 3rd Photographic Technology

Slate Hayes placed 3rd and Dalton Fischer placed in the top six individually for their written Tech Bowl exams. There were at least 40 people competing in that event.
Tristin Melton made the top six with his CO2 powered dragster design - 25 cars competed
Adam Robison and Mason Hayes made top six in Technology Problem Solving- 51 teams competed.

*We have several students eligible to compete at the National TSA conference to be held in Washington DC in June*

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 4-3-14


  • On 4-3-14 around 7:50am The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 40 year old Donald W. Lewis of Joplin, Missouri. Mr. Lewis was arrested on 1.) Felony warrant Cedar County - Dangerous drugs 2.) Driving while revoked. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and is being held there on No bond.

  • On 4-3-14 around 5:20pm The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 30 year old Jacob S. Ivlow of Montrose, Missouri. Mr. Ivlow was arrested on 1.) Felony possession of Methamphetamine. He was booked into the Henry County Jail and his status is bondable.

Cass County Sheriffs Office: Man Dies In Well

Cass County – Around 5:20 pm the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a call in the 22000 block of S. Dillon Rd, north of Gunn City, of a man that was possibly in a well.

The man has been identified as Connie B. Dillon, 72 of Pleasant Hill.  Mr. Dillon lived at the residence in the 22000 block of S. Dillon where he was discovered.Cass County
Deputies arrived on the scene and located the victim in the well, but determined he was unresponsive.  Deputies, firefighters and emergency personnel from East Lynne and Harrisonville Fire Department arrived and recovered the body of a 72 year old man from inside the well.

The well, located behind the residence, is approximately 30 feet deep and the waterline was more than 10 feet below the opening.  Investigators are working to determine how long the victim may have been in the well.  The Jackson County Medical Examiner Office will assist to determine the exact cause of death.

Large Shop Fire Southwest of Butler

Thick Black smoke filling the air when we arrived

Around 7:23am this morning the Butler Fire Department along with Mutual aid from the Adrian Fire Department and Bates County Sheriff's Office all responded to a Large shop fire Southwest of Butler. The location of this fire was 52 West Highway to K Highway then South on K Highway until it turns to gravel then 1 mile West to the Oerke Farms. 

The large shop had several trucks, tractors and machinery inside of it. Unknown at this time the cause of this fire and it's under investigation. Bates County Live will update this when more information is available from The Butler Fire Department.

Flood Warning For South Grand River Near Urich

Bates County Sheriff's Office Advisory: 

Flood warning continues for South Grand River at Urich, Missouri until Saturday evening. Do not drive through flowing water.

The City of Butler will be flushing hydrants

The City of Butler will be flushing hydrants in all areas South of Ohio Street on April 9th, and April 10th, 2014.

Flushing hydrants are a routine maintenance activity of the Water Distribution Department and Fire Department.  This work will occur mainly during the late evening and overnight hours for the convenience of our customers and will be primarily Wednesdays and Thursdays.  This work should take approximately two weeks.




The residents in this area may experience some rusty water and should exercise caution when washing white fabrics.  If you notice any staining of white fabrics, do not dry the material but repeat the wash cycle.  

If you experience stained fabrics, contact the City office at 679-4182 during normal business hours or the Butler Police Department at 679-6131 after hours and on weekends and we can provide you with bottles of stain remover.

Butler Optimist Club Students Of The Month

The Butler Optimist Club would like to recognize several Butler R-V students for their outstanding academic achievements and character.  The students were selected by the staff at Butler R-V.  Each student receives a certificate of honor and a $20 gift card to Sonic donated by Miles Umstattd of Sonic in Butler.  The following students received an award for Optimist Student of the Month:  Drew Fleener, Jasmine Cooper, Bella Oltremare, Keera Brockman, and Rylee McBrayer.
