A wanted felon from the Vernon County’s Most Wanted list was
apprehended Tuesday evening according to a press release from the Vernon County
Sheriff’s Office. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, his office
had been searching for Joshua Schnedler, 33 of Nevada, after felony warrants had
been issued for charges ranging from domestic assault to unlawful use of a
weapon. The Sheriff said Schnedler had also ran from deputies last week during
a vehicle pursuit in a truck that was believed to be stolen from Kansas, but
the pursuit was called off for safety reasons.
The Sheriff said investigators and deputies from his office
had been working with investigators from the Nevada Police Department in an
attempt to locate Schnedler and surveillance was put on a residence in the
south part of the county after a truck matching the description of the stolen
vehicle Schnedler was believed to be driving was spotted. The Sheriff’s Office
obtained a search warrant through the prosecutor’s office and found more than
just the stolen truck “Schnedler was found hiding in a barn and was taken into
custody at gun point” said Sheriff Mosher. According to the press release a
loaded gun and a substance believed to be crystal meth was found next to
Schnedler after he was taken into custody. According to the press release,
among the long list of stolen property found during Schnedler’s arrest, the
Sheriff’s Office recovered three stolen vehicles, two trailers, a utility trailer,
a generator and seized two rifles, one shotgun, and three handguns. “Three of
the firearms were loaded so we are glad no one was hurt while apprehending
Schnedler and that we were able to get some peoples stuff back to them” said
Mosher. The Sheriff said his deputies spent a good part of Thursday calling
people telling them that their property had been recovered and would soon be
returned to them.
Schnedler is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail
on three felony warrants, and one misdemeanor warrant for charges of possession
of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, one
count of unlawful use of a firearm, two counts of tampering with a motor
vehicle, one count of resisting/interfering with arrest, domestic assault, and
multiple traffic violations. Bond for
all warrants as of Thursday afternoon was $151,000 cash only.
