Blue Mound woman dies in motorcycle accident


A Blue Mound, Kansas woman died as the result of a motorcycle accident around 2 pm this afternoon about 5 miles east of Blue Mound on K31 highway. Trisha A. Purdy 24, of Blue Mound was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Jerry G. Purdy, 24. According the to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, the motorcycle made an emergency braking maneuver that resulted in both being ejected. Trisha Purdy was pronounced dead at the scene; Jerry Purdy was transported by air ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital with serious injuries.

Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home.

Clinton man dies in drowning accident

 
A Clinton man died in a drowning accident on June 20 in Benton County in an area of Sky Village Rd., along the eastern Henry County and western Benton County line.

James L. Montreuil, 77, Clinton, was the victim. The body of Montreuil was transported to Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.

Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper M.B. Hollis was requested by Benton County law enforcement and public safety personnel to assist with recovery operations in regards to a possible drowning in a private pond on June 20. Trooper Hollis responded and a marine surface search ensued. 

The search was suspended due to darkness and resumed in the morning hours of June 21. The body of James L. Montreuil was located at 9:33 a.m. Benton County Coroner Weston Miller pronounced Montreuil dead.

Trooper M.B. Hollis investigated the drowning accident and was assisted by Trooper T.W. Murrell.

  • On 6/21/14 around 4:15pm The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 53 year old Nancy V. Stephenson of Erie, Kansas. She was booked into the Bates County Jail on 1.) Driving while intoxicated. She was later released.

Burn Outs For Brice a Success















The Burn outs for Brice Car Show was held today at RJay's Speed Shop in Adrian, Missouri and was a huge success. Around 100 cars showed up for this great cause and they raised nearly $2,000 to help Brice. Big thanks to everyone who came out and supported this. Weather Update: An Official Welcome to Summer

The Warm and humid conditions will persist through the weekend. Storms will fire again today and tonight. Rain chances aren't great though and if there is severe weather, it'll likely be near the Missouri-Iowa border. Get out and enjoy the weekend!
