Weather Update : High Heat Index Today

Try to stay cool and hydrated today. Should be a bit hotter with heat index readings a tad higher. But a stronger breeze should help out some. Check out the graphic of outdoor safety tips if you must be outdoors.

Later this evening you'll be able to see a lightning display over Iowa that is expected to work its way into northern Missouri. Primary severe threat would be from damaging winds. Current thinking is the bulk of severe weather should be mostly in Iowa but can't rule out isolated severe cells sneaking into northern Missouri. Storms should weaken as they continue south overnight.
