Rich Hill Fire Department Responded to possible Electrical Fire

Around 6pm this evening 7/14/14 the Rich Hill Fire Department responded to a house at 1424 East Maple Street on the report of  the smell of electrical wires burning in the house. When RH Fire crews arrived on scene nothing was found and the house was cleared.

First Baptist Church VBS


Mark your calendars for First Baptist Church VBS is set for August 3-7th. 6-8:30 PM. The church is located at 300 N. Delaware Street.

We are having an ice cream social the Saturday night before for you to sign your kids up. It will be at the Jaycee park on the 2nd. starts at 5:30. There will be a bouncy house and fun things for the kids to do. Don't miss it.

Obituary - Erma ‘Darlene' Fowler

Erma ‘Darlene' Fowler
Erma ‘Darlene’ Fowler, age 80 of Adrian, MO, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Darlene was born on November 30, 1933, in Cross Timbers, MO to Cyrus Vincent Crowder and Elsie Marie ‘Sapp’ Crowder.  After school she went to work for the phone company in Clinton until she married.  Darlene Crowder married Jerold “Buddy” Burton Fowler on March 4, 1950 in Clinton, where they made their home for several years.  In 1968 they moved to rural Adrian, where they raised their children, continued to farm and raised cattle.  Darlene was a member of Altona Baptist Church and the Altona Ladies’ Club.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandma. She was known far and wide for her wonderful cooking.  Everyone always wanted to eat at her table and no one was ever turned away. She loved growing flowers, working in her garden and mowing her lawn.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Fowler (Vickie) of Butler, Janet Gaylord of Adrian, and Kevin Fowler of Adrian; five grandchildren, JaNell Ferguson (Brad) of Adrian, Justin Colin of Adrian, JaNetta Larsen of Butler, Casey Colin (Abby) of Butler, Jeri Lynn Fowler of Butler; four great-grandchildren, Clayton Ferguson, Kayde Colin, Callie Ferguson and Cale Ferguson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a sister, Betty Ann Crowder; and a brother, Kenneth Doyle.

The family will receive visitors at Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton, on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Altona Ladies’ Club and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Bates County Sheriffs Office: Stolen Property Recovered

On July the 11th Bates County Detective’s located and recovered a stolen  four wheeler and trailer in rural Bates County. Detectives during the investigation received information of two male subjects Edmund James DOB 05-17-1973 and Dewayne Boehm DOB 01-12-1961 that are persons of interest in this case and  others to include the theft of a Red Country Clipper Zero turn mower Serial# 6017AW14 that was stolen from a rural Bates County residence.

Bates County Sheriffs Office: Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On July the 12th A Bates County Deputy conducted a traffic stop in rural Bates County.  The Deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle. During the Deputies contact with the driver he located on the drivers person approximately two grams of methamphetamine and one used methamphetamine pipe.   


The drive was identified as Michael D Smith DOB 04-24-1978 of Carthage Missouri. Smith was arrested and is currently in Bates County Jail On $10,000 Cash or surety warrant, for possession of Methamphetamine.

The 66th Annual Henry County Fair is underway in Clinton. On Thursday, July 10, exhibits were entered by contestants. These included home economics, vegetables, fruits, flowers, FFA Ag Mechanics, arts, crafts, 4-H Exhibits, Fine Arts and Ham Exhibitor interviews took place. Since then there have been various events including the baby show and crowning of the royal court. The remaining schedule for the fair includes:
