was issued by the 28th
Judicial Court for possession of a controlled substance. According to a
press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Michael W King,
56 of Schell City was arrested at a residence in Schell City by
Sheriff’s Deputies and transported to the Vernon County Jail without
incident. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, his office
had received multiple calls from residents in the county of suspicious
activity in the area and after following up on those leads, the CNET
drug task force and investigators from the Sheriff’s Office were
assigned to the case. King is being held in the county jail on a $25,000
cash only bond. “This all started with observant citizens so this is
another good example of what can be accomplished when citizens and law
enforcement work together” said Mosher.

Butler Project Prom Meeting
Be on the lookout.....another scam targets area residents
According to Butler Police Chief Randy Beshore, scammers are at it again. This time it's a little more tricky- it's an automated 'robo' call and your caller ID will show "City Of Butler", seemingly legit. You will be told your credit card bill is over due and may be prompted to provide your personal information over the phone. Do not give them any information.
This is a scam, the City of Butler is NOT making these calls.
If you receive one of these calls, listen to the entire message and try to get a phone number or any other info that would be helpful- then notify the Butler Police Department at 660-679-6131.
