St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Appleton City Man Arrested

On Aug. 1, George Richey, 52, Appleton City was arrested for violating an full order of protection after St. Clair County deputies responded to a disturbance on North Poplar Street, Appleton City. A female victim reported Richey was yelling and screaming and using vulgar language at her. A copy of the protection order from the court was observed by deputies and Richey was taken into custody and transported to the St. Clair County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Trespassing and property damage in Appleton City


On July 27, a St. Clair County deputy responded to a residence on North Walnut Street, Appleton City, to a report of trespassing and attempted property damage. Tommy Carter reported he received information an individual was attempting to break down the front door of a residence he owns. Suspect information was obtained and Carter signed a request for prosecution for trespassing and damage to a door and window. Repair costs were estimated at $200. The information was turned over to the Appleton City Police Department for further investigation.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Felony warrant issued for Carr

On July 29, a St. Clair County arrest warrant was issued for Travis Carr, 21, Collins, charging him with a class C felony of theft/stealing. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from a report of stealing taken by a St. Clair County deputy on June 21. Larry and Debbie Thomas reported a Craftsman 3,000 watt generator was stolen from a shed on their property on NW 101 Road, Osceola. The generator was valued at $700.

During the investigation other items were discovered stolen. Items included a log roller, metal tractor seats, a power washer, and a laptop computer. All of the items reported stolen were recovered and returned to the Thomas’. Missouri State Highway Patrol: Pedestrian Struck East of Adrian


On 8/2/14 around 10:00p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with The Bates County Sheriffs Office, Adrian Fire Department and Bates County EMS responded to a pedestrian that was  struck by a vehicle. The location of this accident was East of Adrian just North of Missouri 18 on County Road NE 10003.

The accident occurred when the 2006 Chevrolet driven by 23 year old James A.Vincent of Adrian, Missouri was traveling Southbound on NE 10003 when he struck a man laying in the road.

The man who was laying in the road was identified at 18 year old Nathan Chamberlain from Adrian, Missouri. Unknown at this time  the reason he was laying in the roadway.

Mr. Chamberlain was transported to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri by life flight with serious injuries. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 8/2/14 - 8/3/14


  • On 8/3/14 around 2:40am The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 19 year old Ben J. Rowe of Mound City, Kansas. He was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated 2.) Equipment Violation. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and later released.

  • On 8/2/14 around 11:40pm The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 23 year old James A. Vinson from Adrian, Missouri. He was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated, He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.

  • On 8/3/14 around 1:36am The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 38 year old Chanda R. Mellenbruch of Rich Hill, Missouri. She was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated 2.) Equipment Violation, She was arrested and booked into the Bates County Jail on a 12 hour hold.

Obituary - Diane Marie Sedwick


Diane Marie Sedwick, 76, of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at her daughter's home in Harrisonville. 

Funeral services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Butler Man not injured in Platte County Accident

On 8/2/14 The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Platte County Missouri  responded to a 2 vehicle accident on Southbound I-29 at Mile Marker 8.2.

The accident occurred when the 1994 International driven by Matthew M. Ringgold 44 of Lees Summit, Missouri merged into the center lane to avoid another vehicle which caused him strike the 2011 Mazda driven by 23 year old David B. White.

Mr. Ringgold refused medical treatment at the scene, David White wasn't injured in this accident. Both vehicles received moderate injury.
