Weather Update: Unsettled weather on its way

Obituary - Terry Lee Wolf

Terry Lee Wolf
Terry Lee Wolf, 67, Kansas City, Missouri, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Corner Brook Place in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 8 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Missouri (immediately following). Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 Friday.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his ex-wife, Jessie Brown and her two sons, Michael Smith and Robert Smith, all of Kansas City, Missouri.

Terry was born July 11, 1947 in Jackson County, Missouri, the son of Carl E. and Donna L. (Mahaffey) Koonce. He was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mahaffey. He was a graduate of North Kansas City High School.

Terry was a very private person and he was not particularly fond of his childhood or proud of his younger years. He did work at the railroad for a few years, in his early 20’s, but it’s not something he would particularly want to be remembered by. He told numerous stories and experiences to the boys as they grew up and was a colorful man by anyone’s standard. He was able to elicit feelings, both good and bad, from all that had the pleasure or misfortune of meeting him. He raised Michael and Robert from an early age and has been the single most influential person in their lives to date.

Terry also owned and operated Wolf’s Stump Removal Company and owned a Christmas tree farm at one point. He attended Strasburg Baptist Church in Strasburg, Missouri. He loved fly fishing. Terry enjoyed a number of activities, such as riding his Harley and restoring historic vehicles, which he shared with both family and his many friends over the years.
