4-H press release: Armentrout receive 4-H Foundation scholarship‏

Armentrout receives Missouri 4-H Foundation Scholarship
 
(Columbia, MO) – Erin Armentrout of Hume, Mo. was awarded the C. O. and Katy Balentine Scholarship for the amount of $2500 on Sept. 26 at the Missouri 4-H Foundation Scholarship and Awards Banquet in Columbia, Mo. The foundation awarded 63 scholarships totaling $68,050 in academic awards to 4-H youth around the state.
 
“The Missouri 4-H Foundation is pleased to be able to contribute to the education of Missouri’s young people through the support of our donors,” said Missouri 4-H Foundation Executive Director Cheryl Reams.
 
 Celebrating 64 years of service to 4-H youth, the Missouri 4-H Foundation secures and manages funds for the MU Extension 4-H youth development program, provides higher education scholarships and recognizes 4-H volunteers. MU Extension 4-H is a community of 276,921 youths from across Missouri learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.
 

Tornado Watch In Effect For Bates County

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch Effective until 10pm this evening for Bates County ( Specifically The Butler Area). 

Bates County Live will update all weather alerts when they become available.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Warrant arrest

On Sept. 30, Terry Lesmeister, 22, El Dorado Springs, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on a class B felony charge of burglary in the first degree, class C felony charge of stealing, and a class D felony charge of property damage. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. The charges stem from a burglary that occurred at Dains Fish Farm on Highway H, Schell City, on April 12. Ammunition, cash from register, several rolls of change, and a computer and monitor for the surveillance system was stolen from the store. Damage was reported to the front and rear doors and the total damage and loss was estimated at $5,240.

Butler Senior Center’s Fall Festival

The Butler Senior Center’s Fall Festival celebration will be this Sunday, October 5th at the Bates County Fairgrounds in the Youth Building. A fun filled day is planned beginning with lunch at 11:30 am and will be served until the food is gone and it’s a free will donation. 

You still have time to submit your theme basket that will be auctioned off beginning at noon. Take them to the Senior Center or bring them with you on Sunday and make sure you mark what is in the basket and its value. 

A queen size quilt donated by Sharon Cumpton will be auctioned off at 1pm. Stop by the Youth Building at the Bates County Fairgrounds on Sunday, enjoy a meal and stay for the auction. All proceeds will benefit the Butler Senior Center.

Road Work in Harrisonville

Route 7 Bridge Over I-49 to Close Sunday for Deck Sealing: 

HARRISONVILLE – Route 7 bridge over I-49 in Harrisonville will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, for deck sealing work. Westbound Route 7 to southbound I-49 traffic will detour to Commercial Street in Harrisonville, then southbound on I-49. Southbound I-49 traffic to eastbound Route 7 will detour to E. 307th Street a mile south of the Route 7 interchange, then back north on I-49 to eastbound Route 7. Northbound Route 7 traffic going northbound I-49 will not be affected.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 9/30/14


On 9/30/14 around 10:55 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 23 year old Ethan J. Laderer of Pittsburg, Kansas. He was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated ( Alcohol and Drugs) 2.) Possession of Marijuana up to 35 grams 3.) Lane Violations. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and later released.
