Henry County Sheriffs Office: Two Drug Search Warrant Executed in Clinton on Friday Morning

According to Sheriff Kent Oberkrom, three persons were arrested on 24-hour investigation for drug-related charges and one was arrested for an active arrest warrant, in connection with two search warrants which were served on Friday morning, October 3, 2014, shortly after 11:00 a.m. The search warrants were executed in the 700 block of South Main and the 100 block of West Henry, both in Clinton.

The search warrants authorized deputies to search the residences for methamphetamine, as well as items associated with its ingestion and distribution. During the search warrants’ executions, a small quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana and bath salts, as well as paraphernalia items were discovered and seized.

Arrested was Dustin Newell, age 25, for distribution of controlled substances, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Also arrested was Jeremy Bergen, age 38, for possession of controlled substances and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and Matthew Cox, age 30, for possession of synthetic narcotics. Darrell Thornton, age 31, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of Benton County. All arrestees were from Clinton.

“This investigation encompasses several months of information gathering, and although it was labor-intensive, it was a great example of a teamwork effort by all the officers involved, which lead to the issuance of both search warrants”, Sheriff Oberkrom stated.

Deputies which participated in the execution of the search warrant along with Sheriff Oberkrom were Major Rob Hills, Sgt. Mike Nelson, Sgt. Aaron Brown, Sgt. Brian Bigler, Cpl. Tim Eaton and Deputies Aaron Richardson, Derek Foreman and Sheri Dody. Assisting from the Clinton Police Department was Sgt. Chad Nepple, Patrolmen Keith Keller, Doug James and Joel Parney.

Jean Kisner, 83, of Freeman, Missouri died Friday, October 3,, 2014 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. a memorial service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 Tuesday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Inurnment to follow at the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri. Possible Gas Leak In Butler


The Butler Fire Department along with Butler Police Department is on scene of a possible gas leak in Butler. The location of this leak is 402 W. Harrison Street in Butler. Liberty Utilities has been notified and will be on scene shortly. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 10/4/14


On 10/3/14 around 11:54 a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 59 year old Ronald L. Rotert of Montrose, Missouri. He was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated 2.) No Seatbelt 3.) Speeding. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.


On 10/3/14 around 2:45 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 52 year old Gerald R. Wilson of Nevada, Missouri. He was arrested for 1.) Felony possession of a controlled substance 2.) Felony traffic of drugs in the 2nd Degree 3.) Speeding 4.) Driving while suspended. He was booked into the Bates County Jail.


On 10/3/14 around 11:20 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 38 year old John W. McCammon of Harrisonville, Missouri. He was arrested on 1.) Felony possession of Methamphetamine 2.) Speeding 3.) Unlawful use of drug parahernalia. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and released.



Weather Update: Areas Of Frost Tonight

Near or below freezing temperatures are expected in far northwestern Missouri and extreme northeastern Kansas. This should result in widespread frost which may cause damage to sensitive vegetation. Conditions will be less favorable for frost formation elsewhere but there may be patchy areas of frost over eastern Kansas and western Missouri.

Breaking News: Counterfeit Money Operation taken down in Adrian today


The Butler Police Department with assistance from the Adrian Police Department, made two arrests this morning at an undisclosed location in Adrian on a alleged counterfeit money operation that was going on at a residence.

It is being reported that the fake bills being produced were smaller denominations and possibly being passed at local area businesses.

More information will be posted in the form of formal press release on Monday.
