Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 10/7/14

On 10/7/14 around 10:40 P.M. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 35 year - old Mathew R. Walters of Belton, Missouri. He was arrested on 1.) Felony possession of a controlled substance 2.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia 3.) Resisting arrested. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.

Total Lunar Eclipse Tonight

We're in store for a special lunar eclipse early tomorrow morning - a full "blood" moon. Not only will the moon completely fall within the Earth's shadow, making it a total lunar eclipse, but the effect of simultaneous sunrises and sunsets across the Earth will also give a blood-red appearance to the moon.

While the moon will set and the sun will rise before the full eclipse cycle finishes, early risers will still be able to catch the full effect of the "blood moon" between 5:25 and 6:25 AM.

And we are in luck: aside from just a few cirrus clouds, skies should be mostly clear so that all locations around the area get a great view of the event!

Obituary - D. Kirk Russell

D. Kirk Russell, 55, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at his home. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. (A complete obituary will be posted when available).

Atha June Hembree, 91, Raytown, Missouri, died Monday, October 6, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri, with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Contributions may be made to Raytown Christian Church or the Misssouri State Office of DAR, Boonville, Missouri. Obituary - Dale R. Champlin

Viewing and Visitation for Dale R. Champlin, 65 of Butler will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Thursday, October 9 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. There are NO services following visitation his wishes were to be cremated. Dale was born January 19, 1949 in Amsterdam, Missouri the son of Dean and Thelma Irene Erickson Champlin. He died Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home in rural Butler. Dale served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy and was employed as a rural mail carrier for the United States Post Office. Dale is survived by his wife Rose Carter Champlin of the home; two brothers Steve Champlin and Martin Champlin; five sisters Veena Purkey, Wilma Walley, Juanita Dyer, Ellen Hartman and Patty Highfill.
