Obituary - Betty Shelton Huggins
Betty Shelton Huggins, 83, of Garden City, Missouri died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Golden Years Health Care in Harrisonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am Wednesday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Will's Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri A complete obituary will be added when available.

It should be a pleasant but still unseasonably cool day today. Big changes are in store for the Sunday through Monday. A strong storm system will track across the area with storms and heavy rain likely Sunday night into Monday. If this was February we'd likely be measuring snow in the foot+ range. But it's October and not cold enough, thankfully. Who is actually ready for snow anyway?
Double homicide investigation underway in Vernon County
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office confirmed early Saturday morning that they are investigating a double homicide that took place in rural Vernon County.
The only information being released at this time by the Sheriff’s Office is that the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad was activated late Friday night and investigators from multiple agencies assisting the Sheriff’s Office have been working throughout the night.
Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher confirmed that his office does have a suspect in custody but said they cannot release any more information at this time.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 10/10/14
- On 10/10/14 around 6:45 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 64 year-old Linda J. Ferrell of Adrian, Missouri. She was arrested on 1.)Driving while intoxicated 2.) Failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in a crash. She was released to receive medical attention at Cass Regional Medical Center.
