Obituary - Olivia Laudan

Olivia M. Laudan
Olivia M. Laudan, age 70, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014. She was born at Westphalia, Kansas the daughter of Orley and Helen Hughey Hermon. She moved from Council Grove, Kansas to Pleasanton for her final year of high school, graduating from Pleasanton High School. Olivia attended cosmetology school in Hays, Kansas. She worked in many different occupations including: beautician, postmaster, and receptionist. She married Bill Laudan on October 6, 1964. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Olivia was a member of the Mound City Christian Church. She was also very involved with the Order of Easter Star. She is survived by a very special companion, Clinton Baugh. The two have traveled, and enjoyed each others company since the year 2007. Also surviving are two sons, Scott Laudan and Doug Laudan and his wife Rexanne; a brother, C. H. Hermon; and four grandchildren: Nathan, Rylan and Morgan Laudan and Melissa Chavarria. 

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Mound City Christian Church. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church or Mercy Hospice. Lamar Police Department needing public's help


The Lamar Police Department needs your help locating and identifying this male who assaulted a customer service representative at Walmart on 10-25-2014. If you have any information leading to the identification or location of this person please call Lamar Police Department at 417-682-3546.

Morgan County Officer Involved Shooting‏

On November 26, 2014, Morgan County Deputies along with Officers from the Versailles Police Department responded to 18548 2nd Street in Versailles, Missouri to an assault in progress call.  Upon arrival, Officers confronted Randall Roden age 41, of Versailles, who had assaulted another individual.  While attempting to restrain Roden, he was tazered twice, however, Roden fired multiple rounds at the officers from his pistol. One of the rounds fired by Roden ricocheted and struck a Morgan County Deputy resulting in minor injuries.  Officers returned fire which resulted in the death of Roden.  An autopsy is currently being scheduled. 

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.


Pop Machines broken into in Rich Hill





Around 9:56 a.m. this morning a unknown male subjected broke into the pop machines outside of Food Fair Grocery Store in Rich Hill, Mo. The man drove away in a black Toyota Tundra with a unknown registration.

UPDATE: Official Press Release on House Fire Wednesday In Butler


NEWS RELEASE
BUTLER FIRE DEPARTMENT
JIM HENRY, CHIEF


On 11/26/2014 at approximately 10:54 A.M., the Butler Fire Department was dispatched to 403 N. Main St., Butler, for a report of a structure fire.

On arrival, fire was found in the 1st floor kitchen area of a 2 1/2 story, wood frame residential structure.

The fire extended up through the walls to the room above and into the attic area.

The fire was under control at 12:36 P.M., and the last units left the scene at 1:59 P.M.

The structure sustained heavy damage to the room of origin and room and attic area directly above, with smoke and heat damage throughout the structure. The fire was accidental in nature. There were no injuries.


Mutual aid was received from Amsterdam Fire, Rich Hill Fire, and Central Cass County Fire Protection District. Bates County EMS provided a stand by. Assistance was also received from Butler Police, Bates County Sheriff's Dept., and City of Butler Public Works.
