Scam Artists Busy
BATES COUNTY, Mo With the Holiday season upon us, it has brought out the “Scam Artists” working in full force. They are hacking into people’s e-mails, calling people with bogus information and doing everything in their power to get your personal information.
E-mails you receive from people you don’t know asking for help because they are in trouble and only you can help them is always a scam, don’t be fooled.
If someone calls you on the telephone asking for your personal information, stating something like your utilities may be turned off, or state they are trying to collect a debt, never give your information out over the phone. Once they have your information they can do anything they want with it.
Be aware and always guard your personal information. Make sure what and who you are responding to is the genuine article.
