Funeral Services for Norvella Bogan-Finwick, 98 of Hume, MO will be held at 10am January 17th at the Hume Christian Church under the direction of the Schneider Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Obituary - Samuel A. McCoun

Funeral Services for Samuel A. McCoun, 82 of Rich Hill, MO will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 19th at the Heuser Funeral Home of Rich Hill. Burial in the Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 1 pm until service time at the Funeral Home.Contributions may be made to the Sam McCown Memorial Fund in care of the Heuser Funeral Home.

He is survived by two daughters, Connie Schaller of Butler and Carol Freer of Joplin. Four grandchildren – Kimberly Ward (Monte) of Joplin; Samantha Freer, Carthage; Renner Schaller (Melanie) of Fairgrove; Christopher Schaller and Maggie of Butler. 5 great grandchildren and 1 brother Donald McCown (Irene) of Grandview.

Maple Senior Living in Butler closing

BUTLER, Mo – Residents and their families were notified in early January that the Maple Senior Living facility would be closing and everyone would need to find another place to reside by February 6th and were offered help to relocate.
Atria Management Company LLC, of Louisville Kentucky has been in discussions with the City of Butler regarding the building and property but no decisions have been made at this time. This matter will be discussed on Tuesday, January 20th during the Butler City Council when Butler Citizens who own or rent property adjacent to the Maple Senior Living Facility will be attending the meeting to express their concerns.
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting which begins at 7 pm but only those who made advanced arrangements will be on the agenda and be allowed to address the Council.

St.Clair County Sheriffs Office: Osceola woman arrested

On Jan. 16, Jackie Younger, 60, Osceola, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Henry County warrant charging her with an unclassified felony of unlawfully obtaining public assistance benefits. The warrant was issued in November 2012 and stems from an incident in August 2010. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

On Jan. 16, Todd Lee, 51, Springfield, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class C felony of unlawful possession of a firearm. The warrant was issued on Jan. 15 and stems from an incident in October 2014. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Billy D. "Bill" Allen
Billy D. "Bill" Allen, age 68, Paola, Kansas formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was born on August 3, 1946 at Paola, Kansas the son of Ward and Jean Lindsey Allen. He attended school in La Cygne, Kansas until midway through his senior year, and, graduated from Louisburg High School in the Class of 1964. He married Brenda Pack on September 9, 1978 in La Cygne. He worked as a supervisor for General Motors, as a carpenter, clerk for Cosens Lumber, consultant for General Motors, and a service writer for Cox Motor. Bill served two terms as Mayor of Pleasanton. He held a true passion for the betterment of the community. He enjoyed gardening, his cattle, fishing, hunting, the Royals and the Chiefs. He was involved in summer ball programs, coaching all of his children and even wife Brenda. He played slow pitch softball for many years and was even able to play with all of his sons. He was a member of the New Lancaster United Methodist Church, La Cygne Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Consistory, Mirza Temple, and the La Cygne Order of Eastern Star. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Ward. He is survived by his wife Brenda, sons, Chad Allen and wife Tara, Brent Basore and wife Sarah, and Austin Allen and wife Ashlee,daughters, Kellie Harvey and husband Justin, Amy Clements and husband Jeb, and Alison Dir and husband Joe, mother Jean Allen, brothers, Vaughn Allen and wife Nancy, and Jim Allen, sisters, Mitzi Coe and husband Pat and Cheri Dunlop and husband Chuck, grandchildren: Hudson, Levi and Makenzie Dir, Brooke, Kate, and Bree Allen, Laynie and Kannon Clements, and Jake and Jace Harvey. 

Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the New Lancaster United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the New Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Sue E. Coffel, 76 of Butler, Missouri passed away January 14, 2015 at her home in Butler. A graveside funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 19, 2015 at Sharon Cemetery near Drexel, Missouri. There is no visitation. Sue Ellen (Zimmerlee) Coffel was born August 2, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of Kelsey Kern and Charlene Lucille (Heidenreich) Zimmerlee.

On December 6, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Coffel and to this union, three children were born. Sue enjoyed playing cards and knitting; in particular, she enjoyed making blankets for her family, which they will always cherish. She enjoyed going to the casinos and spent time watching Jeopardy and tennis.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy Zimmerlee; sister, Carolyn Richardson; a great-grandson, Kyler Kelso; and a sister-in-law, Linda Zimmerlee. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Massey and husband Curry of Butler, and Terry Rae McGuire and husband Jim of Harrisonville, Missouri; a son, Donald Eugene Coffel and wife Kelly of Archie, Missouri; grandchildren Brad McGuire, Joseph Massey, Jason McGuire, Leslie Hedrick, Ashley Kelso, Jennie McGuire, Bracole Coffel, Doug Coffel, Jessica Coffel, Mary Margaret Massey; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters Kathryn Schwartz of Drexel, Missouri, Betsy Thomas and husband Herby of Drexel, Sybil Mills of Florida, Jackie Smith of Grandview, Missouri, and Lora Vanderpool of Arkansas; and a brother, John Zimmerlee of Lenexa, Kansas.

Belton Police Still Searching for Suspect

Investigators are still seeking information in the Dec. 22 homicide of a Belton man.

Belton police found 36-year-old Chad Donaldson in the area of Springdale Drive in Belton. He was on the street, suffering from a gunshot wound, around 2 a.m.

Donaldson was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Authorities say the victim had been last seen at the QuikTrip convenience store, located on Missouri 58 Highway and Interstate 49 around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21.

Crimes Stoppers has announced a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
