Obituary - Charles Robert Raysik

Funeral services for Charles Raysik will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Missouri. 

Charles Robert Raysik, age 73 of Archie, Missouri died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 2, 1941 to Steve and Katie Marie Craig Raysik in Bates County, Missouri.

Charles is survived by his wife, Kathleen Raysik of Archie, Missouri; two sons, Anthony Raysik and significant other Roberta Bennett of Claycomo, Missouri and Scott Raysik and wife Lynn of Lawson, Missouri; two daughters, Deborah Allen and husband Scott of Kansas City, Missouri and Eden Ecklund and husband Russell of Grandview, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Tombaugh and husband Doug of Kansas City, Missouri and Michaela Waters and husband Jim of Parkville, Missouri; two brothers, Steve Raysik of Deepwater, Missouri and Jim Raysik and wife Becky of Clinton, Missouri; one sister, Ada Ann Morris of Montrose, Missouri; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one stepson, Jack Shelton.

Appleton City man arrested on probation violation

Glen Collins Jr.
 On Jan. 18, Glen Collins Jr., 32, Appleton City, was arrested in St. Clair County on a no bond Barton County warrant for a probation violation on an original class C felony charge of burglary second degree. The warrant was issued in June 2014. 

The original charge stems from an incident in November 2011.

Progress in Drexel...

Workers on site early in the day as a new Dollar
General Store goes up in Drexel
Construction is fully underway for a new Dollar General Store being built in Drexel. The project has
been in the works for several years and is beginning to take shape at the corner of 2nd and Elm streets, across from Casey's.

Dollar General, with over 11,400 stores, is the largest U.S. discount retailer.

The store is expected to be open this Spring.

Storm spotter training coming to Butler in February

Do you know what an RSC is? A Really Scary Cloud.

Seriously, you can learn to tell what cloud formations mean and better yet, learn what kind of clouds bring truly dangerous weather during storm spotter training at the Butler High School auditorium on Tuesday, February 10th.

Class begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the National Weather Service.

Butler Rotary Club Ham and Beans or Chili Dinner

The Butler Rotary Club invites everyone to a Ham and Beans or Cornbread dinner on Friday, January 23rd from 5 – 7 pm in the Butler High School Cafeteria.

All proceeds will go to projects involving students of the Butler School System.

Adults is just $5 and Children $3 for 6th grade and under.

Community Food Pantry Mass Food Distribution

A mass food distribution will be held at the Community Food Pantry, 709 West Ohio in Butler, Saturday January 24 from 8:30-11:30. The only requirement is you provide proof you live in Bates County. Call 660 679 3951 if you have questions.
