Robert "Bob" McGee
Robert "Bob" McGee, age 78, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015. 

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the East Mt Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel.

Henry County Sheriffs Office: Vehicle hits building driver flees

According to Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, Deputy Derek Foreman and Deputy Jeremiah Sullivan investigated an accident at Main and Jackson shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015.

According the Sheriff's Office report, a 2008 white Ford Explorer struck another vehicle at the intersection of Main and Jackson Streets. After striking the other vehicle, the Explorer left the roadway and impacted a building on the northeast corner of the intersection. According to witnesses, two subjects exited the Explorer and ran west on Jackson Street, prior to law enforcement arriving on the scene. No one was injured in the other vehicle.

Evidence at the scene have lead Sheriff's deputies to seek the whereabouts of Jeremiah P. (J.P.) Evans, age 29 of Windsor. Evans, who has an active warrant for felony property damage, is a person of interest in this leaving the scene of an accident investigation.

Henry County Sheriffs Office: Arrested for drug activity

According to Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, Sgt. Aaron Brown, Sgt. Mike Nelson and Deputy Derek Foreman conducted a traffic stop at Main and Center just before 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening, January 23, 2015.

During the traffic stop, the driver, Shelby Terry, age 48 of Tightwad, was arrested on a 24 hour investigative hold for distribution of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). A K-9 sniff of the vehicle was conducted by K-9 Osha with a positive alert on the driver side door of the vehicle. A subsequent search by deputies found several packets of a white substance believed to be methamphetamine. The white substance was packaged in a way that is consistent with the sale of the product.

Shelby Terry was transported to the Henry County Detention Center where he was held on a 24 hour investigative hold for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, distribution of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine

Lowry City woman arrested for trafficking drugs

On Jan. 26, Brenda Nall, 42, Lowry City was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class A felony of trafficking in drugs/attempted trafficking in drugs in the second degree. Bond is set at $75,000 cash only.

The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 25 after a St. Clair County deputy and members of the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Nall was driving north of Lowry City. During the investigation, a drug detecting canine from the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene. The canine alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted. Over 100 grams of methamphetamine was located during the search.

Appleton City man arrested on Felony warrant

On Jan. 27, Ryan Snyder, 24, Appleton City, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Henry County warrant charging him with class C felony possession of a controlled substance. The warrant was issued on Jan. 7 and stems from an incident in August 2014. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. 

Two from Nevada arrested on felony drug charges

On Jan. 26, Samuel Newman,22, Nevada, and Tiffany Foster, 25, Nevada, were arrested on St. Clair County warrants charging them with class B felonies of distribution, delivery, manufacture or production of a controlled substance or attempt to or possess with intent to. Newman’s bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety and Foster’s bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.


The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 25 after a traffic stop was conducted by the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force on Highway 54 east of Collins. Newman was allegedly driving the vehicle and Foster was a passenger. 

During the investigation, a drug detecting canine from the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene.

The canine alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted. Over 200 grams of marijuana, a scale and plastic bags were located in the vehicle.
