Tarry was born February 11, 1952 in Polo, Missouri. He is survived by his wife Terry (Stark) McElwee.

Butler HS Baseball Team selling Royals Tickets

Playing in a Major League Baseball stadium is a dream shared by many youngsters. For high school students participating in the 2015 Royals High School Baseball Classic, this provides an opportunity for that dream to become a reality. For the last thirteen seasons, the Kansas City Royals have hosted high school baseball teams at this annual event. This year Kauffman Stadium will again host several area high school teams. Our Butler Bear Baseball team has the opportunity to play at Kauffman Stadium on April 28th at 4:00p.m. Make plans to watch the Bears play the Eagles at Kauffman Stadium. Admission to this game is free so come out and enjoy the game.

To be eligible our Baseball Team needs to sell 1000 vouchers. This year the team will be selling vouchers for Field Box and Field Plaza seats for this 2015 Royals season. These vouchers can be exchanged for game tickets at the Royals ticket outlet on the first day of the season or the day of the game. Regular prices for these lower level seats are $48.00 and $38.00. The Bears are selling the ticket vouchers for $21.00 and $19.00 per seat. Vouchers can be purchased at Midwest Lumber 679-3137 or from any varsity baseball player or coach. Electric City Soccer Club to Conduct Registration for Spring Youth Soccer

(Jan 28, 2015) – Electric City Soccer Club registration for the spring 2015 season will be held on February 6 from 6pm-8pm, February 7 from 9am-1pm, and February 8 from 1pm-5pm. Children ages 4 years (as of 8/1/2014) through 12th grade are eligible to enroll to play soccer. Registration will be required even if the child played previously.

Unemployment Benefits in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri bill to link the length of unemployment benefits to the unemployment rate has approval from a House panel.

The bill approved Monday also would increase the amount of money the state must have saved to pay for benefits before reducing how much businesses need to contribute.

Supporters of the bill say they want to make sure the state's unemployment trust fund does not run out of money in the future.

Missouri's unemployment fund had to borrow money from the federal program in 2009 and paid it off last year.
When a state trust fund is in debt to the federal government, businesses lose out on part of a federal tax credit.

The bill also requires a state board consider alternative financing next time the trust fund needs money.

Robert "Bob" McGee, age 78, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015. 

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the East Mt Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel.

Henry County Sheriffs Office: Vehicle hits building driver flees

According to Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, Deputy Derek Foreman and Deputy Jeremiah Sullivan investigated an accident at Main and Jackson shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015.

According the Sheriff's Office report, a 2008 white Ford Explorer struck another vehicle at the intersection of Main and Jackson Streets. After striking the other vehicle, the Explorer left the roadway and impacted a building on the northeast corner of the intersection. According to witnesses, two subjects exited the Explorer and ran west on Jackson Street, prior to law enforcement arriving on the scene. No one was injured in the other vehicle.

Evidence at the scene have lead Sheriff's deputies to seek the whereabouts of Jeremiah P. (J.P.) Evans, age 29 of Windsor. Evans, who has an active warrant for felony property damage, is a person of interest in this leaving the scene of an accident investigation.

Henry County Sheriffs Office: Arrested for drug activity

According to Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, Sgt. Aaron Brown, Sgt. Mike Nelson and Deputy Derek Foreman conducted a traffic stop at Main and Center just before 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening, January 23, 2015.

During the traffic stop, the driver, Shelby Terry, age 48 of Tightwad, was arrested on a 24 hour investigative hold for distribution of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). A K-9 sniff of the vehicle was conducted by K-9 Osha with a positive alert on the driver side door of the vehicle. A subsequent search by deputies found several packets of a white substance believed to be methamphetamine. The white substance was packaged in a way that is consistent with the sale of the product.

Shelby Terry was transported to the Henry County Detention Center where he was held on a 24 hour investigative hold for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, distribution of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine
