Butler USDA open house today

The Bates County Soil and Water Conservation District will have their open house and supervisor
election on March 11th. The open House at the USDA Building will be held between 9am and 3pm, election hours will be from 9am to 4pm.

Stop by and visit with the staff and other producers, view displays and the poster contest winners awards will be presented at 1pm.

Lunch will be served from 12:00 – 1:00pm. The USDA Building is located at 625 West Nursery Street in Butler. For any questions call 660-679-6124, Ext. 3.

Scheduled power outage next Thursday

The City of Butler is scheduling a power outage on Thursday, March 26th between 11 pm to 12 midnight for maintenance. Electric disruption should be limited to a few minutes. 

The City of Butler thanks everyone for their patience in this matter.

St.Clair County Sheriffs Office: Lowry City man arrested

Boyd Miles
On March 10, Boyd Miles, 49, Lowry City, was arrested in Osceola on a no bond felony probation/parole warrant for a probation violation.

Obituary - Tom Eugene Knight

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be 10 - 11 a.m. Friday, March 13 prior to services. Contributions to Heartland Hospice. 

Tom Eugene Knight, age 78 of Amoret, Missouri died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. He was born July 3, 1936 to Ralph and Rosie Jelinek Knight in Plattsburg, Missouri.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dianne Knight of Amoret, Missouri; two sons, Bill Glanzer of Kansas City, Missouri and Bob Glanzer and wife Jennifer of Archie, Missouri; two daughters, Robin Coe and fiance' Chris Vaughn of Adrian, Missouri and Annie Knight of Prescott, Kansas; a brother, Ray Knight and wife Donna of Lee's Summit, Missouri; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jane.

2 vehicle accident West of Butler pickup truck vs.tractor

Around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Bates County Sheriffs Office and Butler Fire Department responded to a 2 vehicle accident on Missouri 52 Highway around 1 mile West of Butler.

The accident occurred when the 1990 Dodge Dakota truck driven by 16 year old Easton L. Romi of Butler, Missouri was attempting to pass another vehicle, overtook and struck a 2014 Kubota Tractor driven by 59 year old Robert T. Fleischer of Rich Hill, Missouri as it was turning off the highway.


A passenger in Mr. Romi's vehicle, Taylor J. Robertson, 17, of Adrian, Missouri was the only one injured in this accident. He was transported by private vehicle to Bates County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles received extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Butler.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Warrant Arrest

On March 9, Amy Bearden, 24, Humansville, was arrested in Collins on a Polk County no bond warrant for probation violation on an original class C felony charge of possessing a controlled substance and a class A misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. 

The warrant was issued on Oct. 7, 2014, and stems from an incident in May 2013.

this time 'posing' dead loved ones for photographs had became quite popular.
