Windsor man injured in Henry County car crash

On 3/16/15 around 6:00 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a 1 vehicle accident Missouri 13 around one mile North of Business 52 Highway in Deepwater, Mo.

The accident occurred when the 2003 Chevrolet Impala driven by 24 year old Devin J. Irvin of Windsor, Missouri was Southbound when it was struck by another Southbound vehicle, Which left the scene of the accident.


Mr. Irvin received minor injuries in this accident and was transported by EMS to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. The vehicle received moderate damage.

Weather Update: Strong cold front moving through tonight

A strong cold front is expected to move through the region this evening and tonight. A sharp wind shift and an increase in wind speeds is expected to occur. 

If there are lingering fire concerns in the area, please be aware that the prevailing winds will change dramatically in the wake of the front.

Updated Obituary - Richard Allen Zinn

Richard Allen Zinn, 71, Butler, Missouri, died Friday, March 13, 2015 in Harrisonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, Missouri with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Midwest Hemophilia Association or Alzheimer’s Association.

Richard was born in Eldorado Springs Missouri June 2, 1943 to Howard and Nadine (Atkinson) Zinn. After the death of his mother when he was young, he was raised by Tom and Florence McClure in Appleton City, Missouri. Richard graduated from Appleton City High School in 1961.

Richard worked at Brownsberger Veterinary Clinic and Cross Filling Station and managed a skating rink while he was young. He went to work for KCP&L for one year, and then took a brief hiatus to sell insurance. After returning to KCP&L he stayed there for 38 years and 9 months before retiring in 2006. He was united in marriage to Connie Davis May 23, 1964. He and Connie had two children, Rodney Zinn and Rhonda (Zinn) Schreier. Sixteen years ago, Richard met the love of his life, Geneva Hough, and they were united in marriage on June 23, 2012.

Richard enjoyed playing pool, keno, and cards. When his children were younger, he enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams and taking his kids to concerts and movies. He took his children on many summer vacations all over the country. Richard was quite the handy man; there was nothing that he could not fix. He will be missed by many.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nadine Zinn, his aunt and uncle, Tom and Florence McClure, who raised him, brothers, Ronnie Money and Charles Zinn. He is survived by his wife, Geneva; son, Rodney (Leslie) Zinn; daughter, Rhonda (Arnie) Schreier; step-son, Randy (Lisa) Hough; step-daughters, Di Ann (JR) Bennett and Sandy (Terry) Rice; 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, and 1 step-great-grandson.

Obituary - Justin L. Brown (Ed)

Justin L. Brown (Ed), age 25, died unexpectedly Wednesday March 11, 2015 in Kansas City, Missouri. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday March 26, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at Heartland Baptist Fellowship, 21203 E 283rd Street, Harrisonville, MO.

Justin was born May 22, 1989 in St Joseph, Missouri, the son of Larry Judd and Debra Kay (Brannum) Brown. He had lived in Silver Springs, Nevada before moving to Harrisonville, Missouri. He was a 2008 graduate of Harrisonville High School.

Justin was preceded in death by his father, Larry J. Brown, in 1992. He is survived by his mother, Debbie Brown; a brother, Judd Brown; and two sisters, Kristi Brown-Wooldridge and Jody Newland.
