Rich Hill School District: Run for cover 5K

Rich Hill School District is in the middle of an exciting building project. The district has obtained a grant from FEMA to build the structure of a Safe Room Dome that will also be used as a gymnasium. However funds are still needed to complete the interior. "Run for Cover" is a 5K run/walk organized to help raise funds for completion of this project. This will be a fun event on a Sunday afternoon that will also benefit your community and school. Everyone save the date May 3rd, 2015 at 1:00 p.m!

Rep. Patricia Pike Will Address Miami R-1 Student Body

On March 16 through March 21 is celebrated as FCCLA Week at Miami R-1. FCCLA is the student-led organization of the Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences Department. Students participate in community service, leadership activities, government awareness, and competitions throughout the school year.

On Friday, March 20th Representative Patricia Pike will be at the school and address the student body during an assembly. Rep. Pike will also tour the school to observe the safe rooms in operation.

Saturday, March 21, will be the final day of FCCLA week. The FCCLA students are sponsoring an elementary basketball night. All Miami Elementary students will have a chance to play their peers in basketball and receive a prize. Between the 3rd and 4th Grade games, the Miami Staff are playing with the Elementary teachers as cheerleaders. Cake walks will be between every game. The Senior class will have the concession stand. Admission cost is $2 per adult, $1 or a nonperishable food product for students (this includes students playing basketball), and free to under school age children. All food will be donated to the Bates County Food Pantry.

Harrisonville teenager injured in Cass County crash

On 3/18/15 around 10:55 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with The Cass County Sheriffs Office responded to a 1 vehicle accident on Southbound 291 Highway and 231 Street in rural Cass County.

The accident occurred when the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 17 year old Ashley N. Gilmore of Harrisonville, Missouri was Southbound on 291  when she ran off the right side of the roadway causing the vehicle to strike a ditch, The vehicle crossed over 231 Street Road and came to rest in a ditch on the opposite side of the roadway.


Ashley N. Gilmore received moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Cass County Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. The vehicle also received moderate damage and was towed from the scene by Johnson Tow.

Charge: Possession of a controlled substance
Sentence: 5 years in the Department of Corrections with a 120 day call back

Defendant: Aaron G. Dahmer
DOB: September 23, 1981
From: Sheldon, MO
Charge: Court I – Forgery, Court II – Possession of a Controlled Substance
Sentence: 7 years in the Department of Corrections

Max Motors Cars and Coffee Car Show

Everyone is invited to the very first Max Motors Cars and Coffee Car Show on Saturday, April 4th from 8am to 2pm.

Mark Muller and the team at Max Motors are expecting over 100 vehicles from all over, cars, trucks and SUV’s of all makes and models. Lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided for everyone attending.

Registration begins at 8am and ends at 10 with judging beginning at 10am and ends at 1pm, judging all done by people’s choice voting, with categories like best modern, best truck, best classic pre-1980, longest distance, best motorcycle and the Max Motors Award.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Misdemeanor warrant arrest

Timothy Specker
On March 18, Timothy Specker, 49, Marshall, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of driving while revoked. The warrant was issued in June 2011 and stems from an incident in September 2010. Bond is set at $500 cash only.
