Obituary - William "Bill" Cole

Funeral services for William "Bill" Cole will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with brother Kevin Berry officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, March 27 at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Benjamin Cemetery in Amoret, Missouri. Contributions to the Amoret Christian Church or the Amoret Community Center. 

William Harvey Cole, age 75 of Amoret, Missouri died Tuesday March 24, 2015 at his home in Amoret. He was born March 2, 1940 to Nelson John and Bessie Jane Crawford Cole in Amsterdam, Missouri.

Bill is survived by a son, Don Cole and wife Debbie of Butler, Missouri; a daughter, Karen Cole of Amoret, Missouri; four sisters, Daisy Riedl of Kansas City, Kansas, Wilma Reeves and husband Jim of Mound City, Kansas, Elizabeth Jones of Greenbriar, Arkansas and Leon Brekke of Mertzon, Texas; and four grandchildren, Ellis, Hilari, Bethanie and Gabby Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marlene in 2010.

Obituary - Ashley Renee Schnedler

Ashley Renee' Schnedler, 36, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015. Ashley was born March 9, 1979 in Nevada, MO to Richard Lane and Deborah Sue (Moore) Schnedler.

Ashley was raised in Bronaugh and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1997. Following high school Ashley was awarded a Band Scholarship from Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, KS, where she attended college for one year. Ashley was employed for a number of years by Moore Insurance in Nevada. She also worked for a time at the License Bureau, Ramey’s and was currently employed by Marvin’s Tow Service in Gardner, KS. Ashley enjoyed trips to the Casino, gardening, and she loved music. She was also a member of the Fairview Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include her children, Kailey Harrell, Nevada, and Kyle Harrell, Nevada; mother, Debbie Schnedler, Nevada; one brother, Joshua Schnedler, Nevada; two sisters, Jennifer Schnedler and Norton Lundberg, Fort Scott, KS, and Jessica Oskvig and her husband Mike, Gardner, KS; grandmother, Nadine Moore, Nevada; her companion, Scott Harrell, Nevada; several nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends, Stephanie McManis and Emily Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Schnedler.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Burt Travis officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Ferry Funeral Home.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Cancelled

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has cancelled the Severe Thunderstorm Watch that was in effect until 10pm for Bates and surrounding counties.

2014 World Livestock Auctioneer Champion to sell at Mo-Kan Livestock Auction

Blaine Lotz, the 2014 World Livestock Auctioneer Champion, will be visiting Mo-Kan Livestock Auction (7133 NE Business Loop, Butler, Mo.) on April 2. Lotz will be on the auction block, selling cattle and showing off the chant that earned him the world title. Mo-Kan Livestock Auction will host a special cattle sale, the Grass and Yearling Special Sale, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Lotz defeated 30 other contestants to win the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship (WLAC), last June in Knoxville, Iowa. The WLAC was created and is conducted by the LMA, a national trade association for progressive livestock marketing businesses. During his year as champion, Lotz is traveling across the U.S., appearing at LMA member markets and industry events.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Bates and surrounding Counties

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo has placed Bates and surrounding counties in a Severe Thunder Storm Watch effective until 10pm tonight.
