Harrisonville teen injured in Johnson County motorcycle accident

One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident on March 27 in Johnson County on Highway 2 around 300 feet west of County Road SW 1551.

Daniel J. Frank, 19, Harrisonville, wearing a helmet, operating westbound a 2007 Suzuki 750, failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle slid off the right side of the roadway where it began to overturn. Subsequently, the operator was ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle then struck a wooden fence post.

Daniel J. Frank experienced moderate injuries and was transported by private vehicle to the Lee’s Summit Medical Center. The motorcycle was totaled and removed from the scene through a private tow.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant D.S. Green investigated the accident and was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.

Adrian Optimist Club Students of the month for March

The Adrian Optimist Club is pleased to honor Students of the Month from the Miami, Ballard, and Adrian schools. Criteria for this honor center on outstanding academic and civic achievement and school spirit. Staff at each of the schools make the selection, and their decision is based on expansion of these criteria. Selection is based on the criteria, but a student stepping up to a particular task will come to play in it. Each student is honored with a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks”.

The Ballard Student of the Month for March is Graham Wainscott, senior son of Roger and Lori Wainscott. Instructor, Miranda Bridges states “Graham is a hard worker both in and out of school. This year, Graham has demonstrated some qualities that made him stand out from the rest. He is a Teacher’s Assistant for several elementary classes. Through this responsibility, Graham has developed a connection with those young students that most high schoolers don’t have. Most elementary students cannot walk past him in the hallway without giving him a high five, a friendly nudge, or exchanging an ornery smile. His mentoring ability is why I have nominated Graham for Student of the Month.”

She shows leadership and is always working to master each new skill. It is a pleasure to work with Brooklyn and she will go far in life with the work ethic and determination she has.” Brooklyn has plans to become an RN at either MIZZOU or Alabama.
