On April 9, Billy Wood III, 26, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class D felony of non support. The charge stems from an incident in May 2012. Bond is set at$5,000 cash/surety.

Butler Police seeking information on cat found shot with a arrow in Butler

If anyone knows who shot a cat with an arrow, or hears someone bragging about it please contact the Butler Police Department at 660-679-6131 or the TIPS hotline at 660-200-2000. This cat was found still alive by a young child yesterday on Thompson St with the arrow still in it. The Animal Control officer was able to get the arrow out of the cat. The cat is currently healing at a vet clinic in town.

Fatality Accident in Bates County this morning

 Around 8:50 a.m. This Morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with The Bates County Sheriffs Office, Bates County EMS all responded to a 2 vehicle fatality accident at Route B Highway and County Road 365 just East of the Rich Hill City limits.

The accident occurred when the 1998 Ford F150 driven by 24 year old Alisa N. Swarens of Rich Hill, Missouri was Eastbound on Route B when a 2000 Ford Winstar van driven by 83 year old Hazel Smith also of Rich Hill, Missouri turned left into the path of the Swarens Vehicle and was struck in the side.

Hazel Smith was pronounced dead at The Bates County Memorial Hospital, Alisa Swarens refused medical treatment at the scene. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.

Cancelled Endangered Silver Advisory - St. Clair County

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department has cancelled an Endangered SILVER Advisory for a missing adult incident that occurred at 7140 SE 1200 Road, Collins, MO at 8:00 PM on 04/07/2015. 

The endangered SILVER advisory missing adult is:
Leslie Dan Besser, a white, male, age 83, hgt 5' 7", 185 lbs, grey hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, wearing unknown clothing. Unique characteristics: Walks with a shuffle

Diagnosed Medical Condition(s): Uses supplemental oxygen and was released from the hospital on 04/07/2015.

Brief circumstances regarding the Endangered Silver Person incident
Leslie “Dan” Besser has been located alive in a wooded area in Collins, MO.

Obituary - Harold Sanderson

Harold Sanderson, formerly of Schell City, passed away on Thursday, April 2nd. He was 71. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 11th at the Schell City Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Springfield woman arrested

On April 8, Juliet Kuhnert, 45, Springfield, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Green County warrant charging her with a class C felony of burglary-second degree. The charge stems from an incident on Sept. 19, 2014. The warrant was issued on April 2. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Vernon County Sheriffs Office Press Release: Meth lab found in Moundville home, one arrested‏

A meth lab, methamphetamines, and drug paraphernalia were seized during a drug raid at a residence in the 200 block of Otto Street in Moundville late Tuesday night. According to a press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s Deputies and agents with the CNET Drug Task Force served a search warrant on the residence as a result of a drug investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said the investigation has been ongoing for a while. “We have been gathering information on this case and had to wait until we had enough for a search warrant, and it paid off” Mosher said. 

An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday afternoon for Jay W Strunk, 42 of Moundville for: Distribution/Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance, Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance, 1st degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Unlawful use of Drug Paraphernalia. Mosher said the lab was removed by certified lab technicians without incident. Strunk is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
