As a result of the students meeting this goal Coach Allen and Mr. Hubbard will be camping on top of the multipurpose building at the Butler Elementary School this evening.
Feel free to stop by and talk or just drive by and honk this evening.
As school was released both teachers were on top of the building to wave the kids home.
The teachers will be there in the morning as students come into school to greet them back into the building for yet another good day at Butler Elementary!
Appleton City First Graders Visit Poplar Heights Living History Farm
The Appleton City 1st graders joined us at Poplar Heights Living Historic Farm for Living History Day. They shelled corn then made cornbread which they ate at lunch. They went to the Atkeson Log Cabin for a pioneer story, a coloring page, learning about wool and making a sheep. Then on to doing laundry, dipping candles, making sheets of paper, learning all about old time food preservation with a taste of porridge, smells of different herbs, preserving meat and eggs and how to make sausage with real, touchable casings!
A hay ride took them to visit and feed the Scottish Highland Cattle and then back to learn about and paint sunflowers.
Each planted a sunflower seed at the Sunflower House. At lunch we all roasted marshmallows and took a nature walk around the pond - yes, there was a snake. Kids bring your parents to our Summer Festival June 13&14 to see how your Sunflower House has grown. We had a great time - thanks AC for joining us.

BCYAC Pool Pals Program Needs Your Help
The Butler Pool will open Saturday May 23rd for the 2015 swimming season. There are many children that will not have the opportunity to enjoy the exercise and relief from the summer heat, as well as have fun.
The Bates County Youth Advocacy Council is in its 10th year of making sure children in our area will all be able to enjoy the Butler Aquatic Center.
Sometimes the question arises, why should I donate to the Pool Pal Program, they aren’t my children. If it takes a village to raise a child then perhaps it’s your opportunity to do something for a child that would otherwise not be able to enjoy fun that other children sometimes take for granted.
Donations in any amount will be appreciated from $5.00 to sponsoring an entire family. The Pool Pal Program combines donations to insure that many children will benefit.
If you are interested in donating money to the Pool Pals Program, mail your donations to:
