Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Bates and Cass County

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Missouri has issued a Severe Thunderstorm watch for Bates and Cass County until 10 p.m. This evening.

Amoret woman escapes injury in Saline County Accident

On 5/9/15 around 12:20 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Saline County Sheriffs Office responded to a 3 vehicle accident on West bound I-70 at Mile Marker 77.

The accident occurred when the 2014 Volkswagen Passat driven by 28 year old Colby J. Salter of Columbia, Missouri and the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 29 year old Carli M. Nieder of Amoret, Missouri were slowing for traffic on Westbound I-70 when they was over taken and struck from behind by a 2003 Hyundai Elantra driven by 21 year old Erika L. Enlow of Columbia, Missouri.

Two of the vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene. The Volkswagen was driven from the scene.  

Erika L. Enlow received moderate injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene. No one else was injured.

2 vehicle accident in Butler


The Butler Police Department along with Bates County EMS and The Butler Fire Department is on scene of a 2 vehicle accident at Fran Avenue and Ft. Scott Street in Butler.

The accident is involving a Chevrolet truck driven by Steve Simmons (4/15/1952) of Eldorado Springs, Missouri and a Toyota car driven by James Allman (10/2/1957) of Topeka, Kansas.

No reports of injuries with this accident however there might be some traffic delays.

Walker man escapes serious injury in Vernon County accident

A Walker man escaped serious injury in a one vehicle accident Saturday morning in Vernon County. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 2:00 A.M. Saturday morning on Route AA, 3 miles South of Schell City, in Vernon County, involving a 2014 Dodge Dart driven by 22 year old Tony Micklich. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says, Mr. Micklich was traveling Northbound when he ran off the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. 

Mr. Micklich was listed with minor injuries and transported to Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs.

American Pickers To Film In Pittsburg Kansas

PITTSBURG, KANSAS - Pittsburg is excited to welcome Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and Antique Archaeology to the area. The team will film episodes of their hit series AMERICAN PICKERS throughout Eastern Kansas. Filming will begin next month.

AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking' on History. This hit show follows two of the most skilled pickers in the business, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, as they embark on an epic road trip across the U.S. in search of America's most valuable antiques from motorcycles, classic cars and bicycles to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia. Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle America, restore forgotten relics to their former glory, and learn a thing or two about American history along the way.

Filming is scheduled to start next month. AMERICAN PICKERS is looking for leads and would love to explore what you may have. They are on the hunt for interesting characters with interesting and unique items. Some of what they look for: vintage bicycles, toys, unusual radios, movie memorabilia, advertising, military items, folk art, vintage musical equipment, vintage automotive items, early firefighting equipment, vintage clothing, pre-50's western gear.

Power Outage in Butler

Several families in the city of Butler are without power at this time. Unknown the cause of the power outage but crews are working to restore the power as quick as possible.

The stoplights at Ft. Scott and Orange Streets in Butler have been knocked out due to this power outage. Please use caution when traveling in this area.

Carthage man arrested in Bates County

On 5/7/15 around 10:15 pm. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 29 year old Michael E. Engstrom of Carthage, Missouri.

Mr. Engstrom was arrested on 1.)Driving while Intoxicated ( Drugs) - Prior Offender. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.
