Osceola teen escaped serious injury in a three vehicle accident in St. Clair County

An Osceola teen escaped serious injury in a three vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in St. Clair County. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 3:20 P.M. yesterday afternoon on Business Missouri 13 at Route WW, in St. Clair County, involving a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by 16 year old Vanessa Johnson. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says, Johnson was traveling Northbound when she failed to yield and was struck by a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 18 year old Jesse Newcome, of Osceola, before striking a 2000 Plymouth Neon driven by 42 year old Christopher Schneck, of Lowry City. Johnson, Newcome, and Schneck were all listed with no injury. 

Two passengers in Johnson's vehicle, 17 year old Ray Cotton and 10 year old Belle Meier, both of Osceola, were listed with minor injuries and transported by private vehicle to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.-

Vernon County Sheriffs Office seeking public's help

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public's help identifying a possible stolen item. According to Vernon County Sheriff Office Officials, detectives are seeking assistance from the public identifying the owner of a GoPro camera that was recovered during a recent investigation. Detectives have reason to believe the camera was stolen, before it was discovered in the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the camera or anyone missing this type of camera, is asked to contact the Vernon County Sheriff's Office at 417-667-6042. Officials note, anyone calling should ask for Detective Blakely or Detective Johnson.

Nevada woman arrested on Vernon County Warrant

On 5/11/15 around 4:25 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 33 year old Melinda S. Leon of Nevada, Missouri.

She was arrested on 1.) Misdemeanor Vernon County Warrant.

She was booked into the Bates County Jail and is listed as bond able.

Be on lookout for missing 94-yr-old MO man driving Lincoln Town Car

SEDALIA, Mo. — A 94-year-old man who walks with a cane and drives a blue 1994 Lincoln Town Car, license plate: JBLEE is missing and was last seen heading to Sedalia from Livingston County, Mo., Monday morning.

Police say John Ben Lee, 94, is 6’1″, 185 lbs, has gray hair and blue eyes. His daughter says he sometimes gets disoriented and confused. He was driving southbound on Highway 5 from Milan, en route to Sedalia at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11. If he reaches Sedalia, his daughter believes he might try to go to Colorado.

Anyone seeing the missing person or vehicle, or anyone with any information related to John Ben Lee, call 911 immediately or contact the nearest law enforcement.

Butler man arrested on Nevada, Missouri Charges

On 5/8/15, Nevada Police responded to the 900 block of E Subway Blvd and again to the 700 block of N Osage Blvd, around 11:00 P.M. In both cases, entry was made into the back window of trucks while parked on the lots of business parking lots while the vehicle owners were patrons of the businesses. Officers responded and gathered investigative leads, descriptions of stolen items and developed suspect descriptions. The police officers began searching the area to locate the suspects.


Around 1:30 AM, a Nevada Police Officer located a man and woman, matching the description of the wanted suspects, near Osage and Hickory Street. The officer attempted to approach the male suspect, who then fled on foot. The officer gave chase through several yards, vaulting a fence and finally apprehended the male suspect a short distance later after deploying his electronic control device. The police officer sustained minor injuries during the pursuit, but has been cleared to return to duty. 

Multiple items of stolen property, including a woman’s pocket book with enclosed identification, cell phones and other property were found on the suspect and recovered after the scene. The suspect was also in possession of a burglary tool that was recovered at the time of the arrest. The female accomplice fled the area during the foot pursuit but investigators have determined the identity of the wanted subject.

The arrested subject has been identified as a 39 year old, Butler, Missouri resident Robert F Douglas. Douglas was transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. An arrest warrant has been issued by the Vernon County Associate Circuit Court on charging Douglas with the following;
  • Stealing, a C Felony,Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, a C Felony and Resisting arrest, a Class D Felony. Douglas is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Obituary - Brenda Joyce Kuntz

Brenda Joyce Kuntz, 71, Cleveland, Missouri, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri, with visitation from 1:00-2:00. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Clinton man arrested

On May 7, John Heistand, 58, Clinton, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on a class C felony charge of passing a bad check. 

The warrant was issued on April 1 and stems from an incident in February 2010.

Heistand also has felony warrants from Benton, Boone, Johnson and Pettis counties charging him passing a bad check. Total bond is set at $10,647.

St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Warrensburg man arrested

On May 8, Michael Stone, 45, Warrensburg, was arrested  on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class A misdemeanor of violating an order of protection for an adult. 

The warrant was issued on April 27 and stems from an incident on March 6. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.
