Boil Water Order District # 7

A boil Water Order has been issued for Public Water District #7 from Tuesday May 12th till the end of day Friday May 15th.

This means you should empty all ice trays, boil all drinking water and add 1 tablespoon of Clorox to all dishwashing water.

This area includes O Highway West to Happy Hill South in the Papinville area.

Butler woman wanted out of Kansas City

Krestin Hawk, 25, is wanted in Kansas City, Missouri, on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash on Minor Drive in February that killed her passenger.

She is white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 145 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes.

Her last known address was in Butler, Missouri.

Vernon County Sheriffs Office Press Release: More warrants issued for Goss. Suspect still at large‏

Several more warrants were issued for Gabriel S. Goss Tuesday morning as the Sheriff’s Office continues its search for the wanted fugitive who allegedly was in possession of items that had been reported stolen from vehicles from around the county including the City of Nevada. 

According to a press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, the latest arrest warrants were issued after numerous items were recovered during a search warrant executed by the Sheriff’s Office on South Cedar St. in Nevada last week. Many of those items had been reported as stolen from vehicles. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said the identified items have been returned to the owners and Detectives are still working to locate owners of additional items they believe to be stolen. Warrants issued for Goss on Tuesday morning include five counts of Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Theft/Stealing, and Tampering with Property of Another. According to court records, Goss has a total of five warrants for his arrest. 


The Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information about Gabriel Goss contact Detective Blakely, or Detective Johnson with the Sheriff’s Office at 417-667-6042.

Silver Alert Cancelled 94 year old found safe

Good news: 94-year-old John Ben Lee has been found safe in Pettis County. Thanks to everyone who shared and helped find Mr. Lee.

Early Tuesday morning, an updated alert said Mr.Lee was last seen at Stahl's Factory in Warrensburg on Monday afternoon. Lee asked for directions to Milan and was told to take 50 Highway to Sedalia to 65 Highway.

Michael’s wishes were to be cremated and remembered with fond memories. Arrangements by the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555).

Michael McDonnell went to his heavenly home May 11, 2015 at 65 years of age. Michael was born December 23, 1949 in Columbia, Missouri to Lloyd Karl (LK) and Rose Marie Erickson McDonnell, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a boy, baptized in the Archie Baptist Church, and later became a member of the Archie United Methodist Church. He attended Everett Rural School, Archie High School, BS in Business Administration at Southwest Baptist University, playing center basketball for the Bearcats, MS in Animal Science at the University of Missouri in Columbia and a PHD in Animal Science at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was active in 4-H, livestock judging, attending leadership conference in Washington D.C., active in Athletes for Kids and earned a private pilot’s license. August 1, 1970 he married Sheila Jane Mastin and to this union one daughter was born -- Jennifer Anne.

Michael was raised and worked on the family farm in Everett Township west of Archie. The farm, including land, his grandfather McDonnell bought in 1904 was named a Cass County Centennial Farm in 2004. After graduating he worked for ADM, PEET’S Feeds, Farr and Gouch Feeds and later was self-employed doing Livestock Nutrition Consulting out of Columbus, Nebraska but traveling to many ranches in various states and countries in his work. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Karl McDonnell.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer and husband Ryan Olson; grandchildren, Sydney and Jacob Olson; mother, Rose Marie McDonnell; brother, Mark and wife Minnie McDonnell; sister, Karla Brewster; nephews and nieces, Joseph and Tabitha Brewster, Kevin and Lindsey Brewster, Ericka and John Longpine, Erwin McDonnell; grandnephews, Karl and Abraham Brewster, Jesse Longpine; grandniece, Zoey McDonnell; and other relatives and friends.

Appleton City R-2 School District to hold special election

Appleton City R-2 School District will be holding a special election June 2nd, 2015 at the East (elementary) gym located at 408 W. 4th Street, Appleton City, Missouri.

On the April 7th, 2015 election, Jessica McClure and Jayson Davis tied for a school board position.

The Polls will be open from 6:00 a. m. to 7:00 p.m. Bates County voters will vote at the Appleton City School.

REMINDER: Boot Drive In Passaic on May 16th

On May 16, 2015 there will be a "Boot Drive" at the four way stop in Passaic, Missouri. The drive will go to help with expenses such as fuel costs and food costs for 57 year old Debbie Gillespie of the Adrian/Ballard area that was diagnosed with lung cancer about a month ago and the cancer has currently spread within the last two weeks and she has had to start radiation cancer treatment.

She hasn't been able to work due to the fact that the cancer has spread to her spine area.

All Volunteers are welcome and anything will help!
