Bryon E. Foreman, 52, Cleveland, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Funeral Services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Obituary -John Carl Johnson

John Carl Johnson
John Carl Johnson, age 90, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Prescott Country View. He was born at Linnville, Kansas on October 29, 1924 the son of Harley Otis and Pearl May Shaffer Johnson. He attended school at Linnville and Mound City. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. John married Joanna Schmitz on October 9, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1989. He later married Sharon Purdy, who also preceded him. He worked as a farmer and a stockman. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Hewitt New Post #249 and the V.F.W. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Otis and Perry, two grandsons, Morgan and Matt Johnson, and a great grand daughter Natalie Grace Johnson. John is survived by four sons: Mike Johnson and wife Mary, Steve Johnson and wife Penny, Jim Johnson and wife Pam, and Tim Johnson, two daughters, Johnna Cansler and husband Gary, Patty Love and husband Bob, sisters, Isabel Read and Viola Campbell, twenty-one grand and sixteen great grandchildren. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City, Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., a time of sharing and remembrance will be held. The family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children''s Hospital or the American Diabetes Association. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.

Kansas City Royals win weekend series with the Bronx Bombers

The Kansas City Royals beat the New York Yankees today by a score of  6-0 in the final game of the weekend series which the Royals won 2-1.

The Royals are now 24-13 on the year and are currently in first place in the AL Central Division with Detroit (23-14) still to play in St. Louis tonight .

Kansas City will be off tomorrow before playing 2 games at home against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday May 19th and Wednesday May 20th both games starting at 7:10 p.m. 

This next weekend will be the much anticipated I-70 Series with the St. Louis Cardinals starting on Friday May 22nd at 7:10 p.m. at the K!

The Bates County Sheriffs Office wants to remind everyone DO NOT Drive through flowing/running water.

Osage Valley Electric Cooperative Crews are currently working on outages scattered across our service territory. 

We currently have a little over 300 people without power at this time.

The crews are working hard to get repairs made and power restored as quickly as possible.

Obituary - Betty Lou Gillis

Graveside services for Betty Gillis will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Scott Cemetery in Amsterdam, Missouri with Pastor Ron Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Contributions in lieu of flowers to Scott Cemetery.

Betty Lou Gillis, age 86 of Adrian, Missouri died Friday, May 15, 2015 at her home in Adrian. She was born April 23, 1929 to Claude Lester and Annie Mae Moles Hannah in Bates County, Missouri.

Betty is survived by three sons, Loyd Gillis of Rich Hill, Missouri, Lester Gillis and wife Marsha and Dale Gillis, all of Adrian, Missouri; two daughters, Joan Moss and husband Larry of North Kansas City, Missouri and Ruby Harris and husband Wilburn of Drexel, Missouri; one brother, Donald Hannah and wife Betty of Clinton, Missouri; one sister, Helen Earl of Harrisonville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Russell Hannah; two sisters, Mary Livingston and Shirley James; and one grandson Harold Pauldean Gillis.
