St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Lowry City man arrested

On May 16, Timothy Burchfield, 27, Lowry City was arrested at his residence in Twin Oaks Harbor, Lowry City, on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class A misdemeanor of domestic assault-third degree. 

The charge stems from a domestic altercation with an individual in Twin Oaks on Jan 15. The warrant was issued March 30. Bond is set at $3,500 cash or surety. 

His arrest came after a deputy was called to his residence in reference to a noise complaint.

Funeral services for Mary Ann Knox will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 19 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Gary Schowengerdt officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions in lieu of flowers to Memories of Mom Team Relay For Life. 

Mary Ann Knox, age 72 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born June 2, 1942 to Elmer Arthur and Tressie Charlotte Ford Hoover in Butler.

Mary is survived by her son, Sam Appleberry and wife Lori of Edwardsburg, Michigan; three daughters, Sheila Hough and Tammy Appleberry, both of Butler, Missouri and Jacqueline Hough of Warsaw, Missouri: three sisters, Bonnie Hoover of Butler, Missouri, Pauline Ridley of Amoret, Missouri and Norma Ridley of Amoret, Missouri; an aunt, Juanita Clark of Butler, Missouri; several nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank; two brothers, Steven and Donald Hoover; two sisters, Helen Lou and Betty Collins; and one son-in-law, Johnnie Joe Hough.

May 23 is the monthly food distribution at the Community Food Pantry of Butler. We will serve from 8:30 to 11:30 at 709 W. Ohio.

Obituary -John Carl Johnson

John Carl Johnson
John Carl Johnson, age 90, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Prescott Country View. He was born at Linnville, Kansas on October 29, 1924 the son of Harley Otis and Pearl May Shaffer Johnson. He attended school at Linnville and Mound City. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. John married Joanna Schmitz on October 9, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1989. He later married Sharon Purdy, who also preceded him. He worked as a farmer and a stockman. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Hewitt New Post #249 and the V.F.W. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Otis and Perry, two grandsons, Morgan and Matt Johnson, and a great grand daughter Natalie Grace Johnson. John is survived by four sons: Mike Johnson and wife Mary, Steve Johnson and wife Penny, Jim Johnson and wife Pam, and Tim Johnson, two daughters, Johnna Cansler and husband Gary, Patty Love and husband Bob, sisters, Isabel Read and Viola Campbell, twenty-one grand and sixteen great grandchildren. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City, Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., a time of sharing and remembrance will be held. The family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children''s Hospital or the American Diabetes Association. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
