To Whom it may concern: H Highway bridge just East of Butler

Bridge in question on H Highway just East of Butler
To whom it may concern:

The bridge that is 3 miles East of Butler on Highway H that is about to be replaced is of great concern to many Bates County residents. We would like to see the bridge straightened rather than replaced in its current position for these reasons:
  • Its position on a dangerous curve has caused a tremendous number of wrecks resulting in injury and loss of lives. It is extremely dangerous during bad weather.
  • It requires emergency vehicles to reduce their speed around the curves. By straightening the road the old bridge could remain open reducing the inconvenience of detouring and added costs to many Bates County residents. This would also return the bridge to its original position reducing road maintenance.
Construction on this bridge is scheduled to begin on May 28, 2015. We would appreciate additional community discussion on this issue before the bridge is replaced. Anything you can do to help us with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

We ask that others with similar concerns please make your voices heard by contacting the following:

Sincerely, a Concerned Bates County Citizen
